I am also new, but I already have a good feeling about this site. I think it's filled with the encouragement that we need to succeed. I. too, was feeling down on myself for eating something I knew I shouldn't, but after reading some of the great posts here, I am feeling better, and think there might be a chance for me, and for you! There's a difference between interest and commitment. When you're interested in doing something, you do it only when it's convenient. When you're committed to something, you accept no excuses; only results.
When you get to a plateau, think of it as a landing on the stairway to your goal. And maintenance is a lifelong plateau, so a bit of "rehearsal" for maintenance isn't the worst thing in the world

I need to succeed at this... don't quite know what to think about it. I've never joined anything like this before. I know this journey will be both mental and physical. I need both. Praying God will strengthen me.
