Hello, I'm new here as we'll. I've also had a pacemaker and defribulator put in, 3 weeks ago. Unfortunately my lung collapsed in the process, so I'll have to build up slowly. My heart failure also brought on type 1 diabetes so I have to inject insulin four times a day. However, like you I am determined and it is so good to be spurred on by someone else with similar conditions. Good luck to you and hope we can motivate each other.

Hi and welcome. So glad you are here to make a change! Get familiar with everything and join some teams. Teams are good for motivation, support and accountability. I fried finding teams with your medical issues but I couldn't find any so you might have better luck using the team search bar for teams with your health issues, however I am adding some links to some teams that you might like/enjoy. Also look at the exercises and talk to your doctor about which ones you can do. Good luck on your journey

There are so many great resources here! I'm glad to see you have already started using the nutrition/food tracker because that is the key element in weight loss for most people. Once you're comfortable with tracking your food on a daily basis, start exploring more areas of this site. I still find something new here almost every day. By tracking everything since May 2011 and using the other features here to keep myself focused, I lost 90 pounds and have maintained that loss for almost a year now. It takes a little bit of time, but it is sooooo worth it!

Hi! I'm 62, diagnosed with idiopathic cardiomyopathy out of the blue about 3 years ago, have a pacemaker and implanted defibrillator. I need to lose 50 lbs and have had no success. I've used Wii Fit Plus with balance board for 3 months. It's improved my fitness but no weight loss (haven't gained either, thankfully). I hope SparkPeople will help me lose the extra pounds. It's my 4th day here. Using the Nutrition Tracker from day one, I've already learned where I can improve my diet. What a great place the founder of SP has given us. Cheers to everyone and best luck achieving your goals too :-)
