Its time to live for you! SF will help you. Look down deep and find yourself and pull yourself to the surface. Now find something that makes you truley happy and put your heart and soul into. This will be your first goal. You can be happy again! Dont be afraid to try be afraid not to try! emoticon

There's lots of solid advice here, Connie, and genuine caring. Try selecting just one thing that you'll make a habit of doing - and then another and another. Build a new life for yourself one healthy, happy habit at a time. Good luck. Take care of yourself.

Nevada is a great place to live. We have wonderful weather and some great parks. The job will be a challenge in the beginning. It can take some time to find work, and also to find a place that will stay in business. But, you should look at this as a new day and new chapter in your life. Welcome to the Silver State.

Hi Connie, I know what you mean when you say you are tired.....I am 59, 5'3" and started last August with SparkPeople at 215 pounds. I had recently separated from my husband of 33 years and could barely walk with arthritis in my ankles. I moved in to a friends spare room. I took the advice from folks just like what has been offered to you here - I started drinking more water, began tracking what I ate and little by little have been getting better. A body in motion (any kind of motion) tends to stay in motion - now I am surprised to find myself 19 pounds down and feeling more in control all the time. You can do it too! Be kind to yourself and focus on your successes, not your failures. Please let us know how you are doing - I care about you!

Hang in there.. you are juggling a lot right now and it must feel overwhelming. Like earlier posters said, take on little things one at a time.. more water, a 10 minute walk, more veggies on the plate.. there are so many good idea resources on SP... bit by bit you'll feel more in charge of your life and it will then accelerate your return to health and happiness.

First - welcome to Sparkpeople. There are many supportive people here. Many of us have been in similar situations. It's not a great place to be. Change is overwhelming especially when it isn't change of your own choosing. We're all here helping each other. The more active you are on the site and the message boards, the more friends you make and the more support you'll receive. We're all learning and helping each other. You've reached out and that's a huge step!
I hope things start to turn around for you real soon. The whole thing is a journey to a better, healthier and happier you. Great start!!!!

I am sure that you have already heard that you are exhibiting classic signs of depression. You have good reasons to feel that way with all the changes in your life. But remember that you are not crazy. Pretty much everyone goes through it one way or the other for many reasons. The suggestions already made are a terrific start. There are also a lot of resources out there, many available on a sliding scale where you pay only what you can afford. Some are free. All can be helpful. Dealing with my father's recent death and its effects on my family, myself and my mother, we have worked with psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, priests, and the counselors from Hospice. The hospice people are very helpful and know what resources are available in your community. They aren't just for end of life issues.

One of the first things that was emphasized was the importance of having a regular schedule. Regular meals, regular bedtimes, regular activities (even if it just to take a walk or go to the grocery store). This gives us a stable framework -- something that is in our control so to speak. One of the most overwhelming things about depression is the sensation that you have no control over anything. A schedule helps to stabilize that situation.

Please sign on often, join in the other groups, get that schedule set up (spark has a planner area besides the trackers), and let us know what is happening.

Hi Connie. You deserve a healthy and happy you! Start with small steps like getting in 8 cups of water per day. Make a goal of getting in 10 or even 5 or 1 minute of walking or some kind of exercise each day. You've already taken the first step by posting here! Be sure to look here for motivation, inspiration, and encouragement. You can do this! Lots of support to be found here. emoticon emoticon emoticon

I'm 57, 5 2 and 220. Going through a lot and tired of it all. I recently moved from California to Nevada to live with mom. Going through a divorce, and boys moved on (not talking to me). Husband moved to Oklahoma to be with the new gal. I sleep alot, (although looking for work as I have NO income). When I had my family I felt I had a purpose and now I don't seem to care. I must care a bit because here I am looking for help. I'm not sure where to start and afraid I'll quit. Sorry to sound so down, but i'm tired. Thanks for reading. Connie emoticon
