I tried the hypnosis tapes. They were a great way to fall asleep! I didn't lose any weight but it sure helped my insomnia!
4/21/14 4:35 P
no but I have thought about it
4/21/14 4:31 P
I haven't and not too sure about it.

I haven't. I don't like the thought of someone planting thoughts in my brain while I am in an altered state of consciousness. If you don't mind this, I hope that it works for you.

Yes, many years ago, and I think it helped. I still use Dan Manirino's "Think and Lose" hypnosis CD from time to time now. I believe that's why I never clean my plate anymore.

It won't work alone and isn't magic.
I had already committed to changing my eating to be healthier. I knew I had to lose weight for my health and I had several visits with a hypnotist. We worked on a few things: choose healthy foods more often than not, track my food and pay attention to staying at my calorie goal, only eat when I'm hungry, and not drink during the week. I wanted to do all those and it worked. I also listened to tapes every night for many weeks that reinforced her message. After about 6 months (and close to 30 pounds down) I went back for a couple of sessions to work on moving every day. That worked too. What didn't work as well as not eating much at cocktail parties and moderating my wine on the weekends and that hasn't worked as well. She told me hypnosis can only make you do what you WANT to do.
I've been impressed with the results (down about 80 pounds and have been at goal since last April) and the suggestions. Rarely eat out of boredom or when I'm not hungry and after healthy eating for so long it is now my preference.
Yes, I have been going for two months and have lost 20 lbs. I eat better, drink only water, lots of fruits and veggies. I listen to my CD's twice a day and find them very relaxing. It's working for me!!

I have a weight loss hypnosis app on my phone and play it at bedtime. It helps me fall asleep and it is very soothing. It seems more like meditation, but it has a lot of positive imagery and motivation. I really like it. And it was FREE!

I have tried hypnosis for other things and it absolutely did not work at all. Some people are more successful but I was not. I was told it was because I was not susceptible.

My colleague did it and she did lose a lot of weight in a short time. Problem is she needed to go back to hypnosis a few months later because she started gaining again. A year later from her first session and she is down in weight, but now has some medical problems as a result and is under drs care. Her eating habits are horrible and she has to take her blood sugar readings several times a day because her diabetes has turned into low blood sugar. Not good. I am glad I didn't do it with her. The hypnotist she went to see has a large following in our area. From what I see, you lose, but at what expense?

So far it has been working I am down 17 lbs. Its really been helping the work outs. I am glad I did it. She gave a cd to listen to at night you could either to 60 day or she said some listen to it until they lose all the weight. I plan on listening until I lose all the weight.

I tried it - didn't work for me. I think it may only work if you do several consecutive sessions. Also might depend on how good the therapist is. Like I said, didn't work for me and I didn't have the $$$ to do multiple sessions.

The only time I've gone someplace for a hypnosis session,it was a group session to quit smoking. It worked short term....but that might have been more of a,"I feel guilty for spending money,I'm not going to buy any cigarettes" type thing.
I did download a weightloss mp3 and when I listen to it on a consistant basis,I think it helps. It's not going to work wonders, but I think if used as a tool along side everything else,I don't see anything wrong with it.I wouldn't spend much money on it...hence,the downloading the one (it was free for a very limited time).

I tried it once. Left work early one Friday, drove an hour and 15 minutes in rush hour traffic to go to the session. I answered a lot of questions and then did the hypnosis. It was ridiculously relaxing and I even got a CD of our session to listen to at home. She recommended that I come back for 4 or five more sessions but I just couldn't see paying $1000 for that so I never went again. I can't really say for sure whether or not it would have worked if I had stuck with it but I eventually got it together on my own.

There's no way I would allow myself to be hypnotized for any reason! There are other ways to re-train your brain.

no ..but the infomercials sure tout it..Have no known any one who has been successful on it..Excited to see what others have to say..
I did try a hypnosis session for weightloss...twice, actually. The first time was very negative. The hypnotherapist used negative imagery to make me be grossed out by unhealthy foods. This did not work at all for me. The second person I saw was wonderful. The hypnotherapist first explained using a white board how the body processes food and the effects food has on the body. Then he had me relax in a dim room with headphones on. He left the room and his voice came through the headphones giving me relaxing and positive suggestions for a healthy diet and lifestyle. It was great, but I didn't have the $ at the time for the cd to use at home, so the results were short lived. I did have the compulsion to eat healthier foods and drink more water for about 1-2 weeks. If I knew what a terrific price I was getting at the time I would definitely have paid the $75 for the cd on top of the $40 for the initial visit. Now I am looking to try it again because I know it can work.

I like to think that it's just another tool in the toolbox to build a healthier lifestyle. I know it's not a replacement for clean eating and exercise, but I hope that it just helps me on my path to a better me.

Yes, years ago. Never really worked but as with anything the motivation has to be there and the willingness to change bad eating habits. Hypnosis can't make you do something you don't want to do, or not ready to do as with my case. I hope you are successful.

I'm going to go get hypnotized tonight with my mom. It's supposed to re-train your brain to only eat when you're hungry and stop when you're full. We shall see.
