5k and up I take gatorade. Especially in really warm weather. It definitely extends the life of my run! (When I was running)

Are you planning to bring anything with you during your half or will you just use the water stations? If you're planning on bringing hydration/gel packs/what have you on the actual day, I would suggest starting to carry it with you now just to get used to the feeling of the extra weight and to figure out what water equipment works best.
If not, I'd make sure you have a way to hydrate after an hour or so into your long runs - as a previous poster pointed out, some people plant hydration along their route pre-run if there are no water fountains available. That's always an option.
It really depends on the conditions - if you run in the cool of the morning, you may well be able to run for an hour or more without the need for additional fluids. In hot or humid conditions, some hydration may be needed. I don't bother with electrolytes unless I have had to drink more than 2 quarts.
One option to avoid carrying is to run in a couple of loops, stash a bottle at the start point (eg. your home or your car), and grab the bottle as you finish the first loop.

I find carrying to be a hindrance, too. I don't like backpacks jostling around. I have a belt with a pouch for a standard water bottle but that bounces around too much. I tried a running belt with small bottles, and this solved the bouncing issue nicely, but they leaked, and I kept whacking them with my hands (poor form - but still...).
So I don't carry.
Like the Sgt I really don't bother for less than an hour. If going over, I plan my route around public drinking fountains where I can get a sip on the way past.
Since the reports on hyper hydration during races seem to indicate that over hydration is more of a problem than under hydration I would suggest that for workouts bouts (runs) with less than a one hour duration re hydrating may not be required. It is my practice to prehydrate as I was taught in the military. I was taught to not sip water but to consume a quart prior to a heavy workout bout such as a long run. It normally does not cause distress since you are working and giving up sweat.
Personally I find carrying water a hindrance which interferes with my run.

Now that the temps are getting warmer, it's even more important to carry some form of water or sports drink with you. As to whether you want to wear a fuel belt or carry a hand-held bottle depends on you.
I carry hydration on my long runs. I'm new to long distance running so I try to treat each long run as a dress rehearsal for my goal race - i.e., I teat and drink what I expect to eat and drink the morning of the race so there won't be an unexpected surprise.
In the case of hydration, I carry a water belt with 50/50 Gatorade and water. I drink something every 3 kilometers, which is the average distance between aid stations on a race. The biggest challenge I have is striking the right balance between "I have had enough fluids and I am not dehydrated" and "part way through my run I have to go to the bathroom right now." I'm convinced that everybody is different and has difference challenges; you have to find something that works for you.
