I don't like having something around my waist bouncing up and down while I run, so I wear a Camelbak. It's definitely not for everyone, but works well for me :)

for whatever reason, the people in my circle are really anti hydration belts and most (including myself) prefer a handheld. The belts are heavy, and the pockets are usually too small to hold things like phones.
