It's your husband's birthday and you're doing out to a restaurant. Stick with lean meat types, heavy on the veggies, pass on the rice unless you're getting sushi, and even then practice moderation. Don't worry so much about whether you go over. This is a very special occasion and a wonderful celebration. This only happens once per year, and one night will not derail your efforts. Plan to stay in your range, but don't fret if you don't. Plan to choose healthy options, but don't fret if your husband wants you to try something off his plate. This isn't a 'diet', this is learning how to live, and celebrations are part of life.

When I eat Japanese, I just try to estimate the main ingredients; it doesn't have to be dead-on accurate to be close enough. For example, if you are eating Hibachi, and go with steak and chicken, you've usually got a cup of beef, a cup of chicken, a cup of veggies, and 2 cups of fried rice. Something like that. You can also google similar things; like maybe Benihana... there's going to be some variation between restaurants of course, but it will give you a close enough estimate that you're not flying blind. That's what I enter, and I don't worry about trying to figure out the sauces. I try to allow myself some forgiveness, and don't worry if I go over. One day of indulgence won't kill me, and won't sabotage my efforts. :)
