I am not good at weighing and measuring my foods especially my dinner. Breakfast & lunch are easier as a piece of fruit or a slice of bread, etc. added to my tracker. And I'm done. But dinner trying to break down a meal is hard. Any suggestions?

A short cut for portion control is to learn to visualize portions. A serving of meat is the size of a deck of cards, etc. That will get you through the tough times as you learn how to weigh and measure food.
is the first thing that came up when I googled 'portion control.' I'm sure SparkPeople also has quite a lot of information about portion control.
With my scale, I calibrate (set to zero) using the empty vessel that will hold my food - a bowl or even just some wax paper. Then I add the food I want to weigh and read the results in grams - my scale shows both.
I've been using an old scale for a long time and I don't even know how 'tare' works. Is that what calibrates your scale for you each time?

I have an awful time with portion control. I am usually in a hurry and try to eyeball things and it isn't working out too well for me. I have a digital food scale but I really don't know how to use it. I know how to change it from ounces to gram, and I know how to use the tare button.
I don't know how to measure things, quickly and efficiently. I bring my groceries home and "process them." Cut them up, rinse things off. I cook only once or twice a week and eat left overs the rest of time. I read that you are supposed to only weigh uncooked meat. What do you when it is cooked? I usually don't have the original packaging to see what the portion sizes are supposed to be. Then what?
