I guess it depends on what it is.
I will use chain info to track non chain foods like pizza, pasta and more complex dishes. When it comes to things like salads, sandwiches, burgers, meat and veggies i just break it down by ingredient and estimate the amounts using visual cues (palm of my hand, tube of chapstick) I also will estimate on the high side.

I was wondering how everyone else handles tracking food from non chain restaurants. I can of course find plenty of information on chains, but i prefer to support local establishments. I'm not sure if I should attempt to find similar items from chain restaurants to track or estimate the ingredients and amount in a dish.
