Eating canned salmon or sardines (with the bones) is a great way to get more calcium into your diet, and helps with the healthy fats and protein. Also, if you make soup, cooking bones down for the stock adds calcium because it is leached from the bones. Only thing is, I don't know how you would 'measure' that, but it isn't the 'measuring it' that is the problem - it is the 'getting it'

Recent research agrees that you need enough vitamin D to ensure that the calcium you're ingesting is actually absorbed, so make sure you're not running a vitamin D deficiency; many adults are.

I hear you! I too was struggling with this for ages. Then I got one of the multi vitamins specifically for women and that boosted the calcium above regular multis. I also start taking a calcium supplement, Viactiv caramel, it is like having a mini dessert. But you get better absorption if you take it at lunch or dinner. Your body can only absorb so much at one time, and is it cortisol that helps to block absorption? Anyway whatever it is, it is highest in your body after you wake up, so take the supplement in the afternoon/evening. Also, when I eat tofu I ended up having too much calcium for the day if I also took the supplement. So now I don't take the supplement if I am having tofu at lunch or dinner. I usually have spinach with the tofu and then am able to get the magnesium and calcium minimums for the day. I think I also found a coconut milk that had added calcium in it and by drinking 8 ounces of that I was able to hit the calcium minimum if I also had a multi vitamin. It was an unsweetened coconut milk at a natural food store in the UK. Don't know if it is available in the US. Hope that helps you.

So I hate milk and even with a glass of chocolate almond milk a day and my multi vitamin I am still not even close to my daily minimum.

How do you get enough calcium?
