Elliptical and running help me slim down - all over, like othes have said, I don't think you can target one part of the body. (although I'm not an expert)

I do agree that spot reducing is a myth, however I do think specific exercises work and can lean out specific areas. I only believe this to be true cause it worked for me. Windsor Pilates butt and thigh 20 minute video did wonders. I wouldn't say I have a "flat" butt but it's toned and smaller. Pilates is a great way to lean out your muscles giving a slim appearance.

Burning fat is an all-body process, and there isn't much you can do to target where you lose weight from. Energy is delivered to the muscles via the bloodstream, NOT from being absorbed from surrounding fatty tissue, so specific exercises will work to develop the relevant muscles, but will do absolutely nothing about the overlying layer of fat.

Rather than trying to focus on just those parts of the body, the best approach is to reduce your overall body through a combination of cardio, all-body strength training and watching your intake, and your body will take some of that fat from your butt and thighs.

Flat Butt??

Like others have said, you can't spot reduce. Why would you want a flat butt?? My God, I'd die if I ever had that. But to each is there own.

There is no way to spot reduce areas of our bodies we don't like. It would be nice if we could, but we can't. If you eat right, watch your portions and get some regular exercise that includes some strength training, you'll eventually lose over your entire body, not just your lower half.

In general, genetics will determine where you lose first.

As far as flattening your tushie, that's an interesting request. Most of the posts I see are from ladies hoping to lift their butts, not flatten them. If you're looking for good lower body exercises that strengthen those muscles, do squats and lunges. Also, take the stairs instead of the escalator. Climbing stairs is an excellent lower body workout.

Any cardio workout, combined with cutting calories. Unfortunately, you can't target what parts of your body you will lose weight from so you just have to be patient. You can do workouts that target those areas and build muscle tone there, but there's nothing you can do to make fat go away from a particular area of your body.
