I would like to know if anybody has a recipe for the veggie burger So I don't have to spend so much money to buy them. Ideas? Sorry, never mind, I went to Spark Recipes and put veggie burger in the search engine, and it popped up with lots of recipes! Whoopee! Can't wait to get started.
You could partially defrost it in the microwave. I have found that cooking it in a skillet with a teaspoon of olive oil (that has been preheated) gives it the crunch that I need. Also, be sure to use salt and pepper.

I hate to break it to you...but that is indeed the texture of a veggie burger! They only come in mushy! I like them because, according to my boyfriend, I don't know any better. (I've never had a real burger.) I usually buy the varities with more stuff in them - corn and beans and other things for texture and taste.
The microwave is the fast and easy way. If you want to toast the outside then i sppose the skillet would work...but it will still be a veggie burger!
My husband and I really enjoy veggie burgers. Since we are not "blessed" with a Trader Joe's in the Low Country of South Carolina, our favorite brand is Amy's. I just spritz a frying pan with an olive oil spray and "fry" on both sides. It crisps the burger. We then put it in an Arnold 100 cal sandwich rolls with lettuce,bananna peppers, tomato and whatever...enjoy
I agree with Trillian. It depends on how you're cooking them. Most say not to defrost before cooking, but then they offer the most favorable cooking methods. I'm not sure I've ever seen any where grilling is the best suggestion. I've found that if I want to grill it, I need to defrost it at least partially first. I really like the Boca and MorningStar burgers and those are both tasty just heated in the microwave, surprisingly enough. You might have to keep trying until you find a preparation method that suits your taste and time restraints. Forty minutes for a pre-cooked burger is a LONG time, but if you're going from raw to cooked, that might be right on track. Hope that helps!

I'm not sure about that brand, but of all the ones I've used I've either cooked them in a toaster oven or on a skillet on the stove top with a bit of oil (stove, not toaster oven).
It takes about 10 minutes or so, 4-5 minutes per side.
The brand really makes a difference - some hold up well, some, like an Asian Stir Fry style, are really good but they just fall apart. Since these are pre-cooked, all you really are looking for is to get them warmed through.
