Started gaining a bit around 14, but really turned into a problem by 16 or so.

Starting Weight: 268 lbs. (November 2010)
Quasi-Maintenance: 165 lbs. (June 2011)
Goal Weight: 150 lbs. (reached December 8, 2011)

Size 22W to Size 4

Currently maintaining within 5 lbs. (+ or -) of goal. I weigh daily, but also use a tape measure and the fit of my clothes to guage how well I'm doing.

I don't have many pictures of myself when young but I remember myself as being fat or at least bigger than other kids my age for as far back as I can remember in school. Yet, I have looked at pictures recently, of myself when I was around 5 and I didn't really seem very fat in those. I must have slowly kept putting more on and I was aware I was fatter than other kids in my class and considered myself fat. I recall weighing around 120 in 5th grade which was definitely on the chubby side. I went on my first diet around age 11 and recall being down to 96 pounds in 6th grade, still around 98 when I hit 8th grade. Beginning in 9th grade, the pounds started piling on moreso, and I coped with life with food and was aware that I was doing that, and tried to fight the battle but all too often food won. I weighed 160 when I was a senior in high school, at my current height of 5' 3 1/2." I weighed 170 at age 19 when I got engaged to my first husband.

I lost and gained weight over many years, and weighed over 200 after having my 3rd child at age 29. I lost weight down to around 120 within 6 or 7 months after that. Then in the following years I battled it all the time, never getting back up to my heaviest weights, but getting up to around 150 many times, then taking it back down some, and then back up, and so on and so and so on! I wish now that I had pictures of me at over 200 but of course I avoided cameras then and there are no pictures of me that I know of.

Anyway, I got down to my goal of 120 a few times through the years but then would put on about 30 pounds and repeat the cycle. But I have stayed within this 120 pound range for the past 8 years and I am very proud of that. I really do believe I finally understand that I can never go back to using food as a crutch through life they way that I used to do. Life is hard and maybe even harder as the years go by. But I find that no matter what is going on, overeating has never helped me feel better except for the actual time spent eating the food, since that would provide enjoyment and diversion for whatever was going on, and then I felt worse after it was consumed. Not sure you wanted this long answer but I do have a story to tell and sometimes I just get the urge to tell it!

Between 10 and 12. This was a harder question to answer than I expected. I thought I was always overweight, but thinking back to older photos, I really wasn't a lot heavier than my peers until early puberty.

20. After the birth of my oldest son. I've had some periods of stability, but mostly my weight has yo-yo'd for the last 19 years.

18 - was in the hospital for PID for 10 days on IV antibiotics and they used glucose to keep the vein open. Gained 20 pounds.

Birth. No, seriously. Both my brother & sister were skinny babies and my mom wanted a chubby baby. She got it-for the next 38 years (with the exception of about 5 years when I lost a lot of weight a little too fast & thus couldn't maintain.)

Exercise is my Prozac.

12 1/2, went on first diet with an article from "Teen" magazine................I also did Metrecal after that, and then just those little 1000 calorie a Day diet booklets they had at check out stands in the grocery store. Later on I took birth control pills, but it would be lying to say they made me gain weight, I just liked to eat!!

At birth, more or less. I was always overweight to some degree since I was very small. Even as a toddler, I was chubbier than normal.

I guess around 20 or so. Birth control made me balloon up, plus I started eating really poorly, and then at 21 going to the bars and drinking with friends. I also started a desk job and wasn't active.

I was a heavy kid and lost weight at 12 without trying. Stay thin, almost too thin, until I got pregnant with my third child at 34. I've been struggling for the past 29 years!

Mine was when I was 38. I lost my husband unexpectedly which left me feeling like i was living in a nightmare. A year after that I quit smoking which added even more weight to my already heavy body.

6. I had measles and was put in bed for weeks. Must have changed my metabolism due to not getting any exercise.
