Personally, I discovered that Splenda gives me headaches, so while I enjoy the taste, I had to stop using it. However, I do enjoy stevia sweeteners, including Truvia, for all it's processed. I have no trouble with that, no additional cravings, and given that I WILL have sweetener in my tea, it might as well be something not artificial that's zero calories. I'm using stevia in the raw right now, as it's got the fewest ingredients of the ones I have available tome at my grocery store.
Becky Hand has stated that artificial sweeteners are safe, and approved for use, as long as you don't abuse it. 1.5 teaspoons a day is nowhere near overuse, so you're fine. ;)
Your mileage may vary, and while there's a lot of dire talk about artificial sweeteners these days, there's really not a wealth of scientific evidence to support it, so I enjoy mine guilt free. :)

I am with the previous poster. Probably not the answer you were looking for, but anything in packets is really processed. They say truvia is better for you, but I think that is just another marketing gimmick as well.
I use raw sugar, honey, maple syrup, applesauce, etc. I'm not perfect with sweeteners, but the less processed the better for your body. Our bodies are so affected by all the processed foods we eat. The more natural/real/whole foods we eat are more recognizable to our bodies are more easily processed by our bodies.
For me, nothing in pink, blue or yellow packets will ever enter my house. I don't even do the stevia in packets in the store since they are processed as well. I use honey, coconut nectar (since I hate agave), dates, other fruits, and real stevia. Someone at the farmers market sells the stevia leaves. Put it in a coffee grinder and whirl it up.
I was never fond of artficial sweeteners, and then my doctor told me that they can cause cravings. headaches, an enlarged liver, etc. I do not eat anything sugar free anymore as sugar alcohols can also raise blood sugar. Not only has my blood sugar been steady for a very long time now but I lost weight more easily.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion on artificial sweeteners, and can choose whether to include or exclude them in their meal plans. For some people (diabetics for example) artificial sweeteners may be a better choice than say agave or honey which can raise blood sugar levels.
Personally, I use artificial sweetener in my morning coffee and usually drink 2 cups max. So we're not talking a large quantity of artificial sweetener. And I'm okay with that.

For me, none. Can't stand the aftertaste. I've just trained myself over time to need less and less sugar in things.
Yep, there I am, swimming through the desert sands. Might just be a mirage, after all. But this is life, and we learn best about it if we explore it, and take our chances. A life unexplored, after all, is one of the saddest things out there.

I love Splenda! I only have about two cups of decaf coffee a day. I always add two packets to it. I know that something natural would probably be healthier, but I don't think that all organic is the only way to go. Most of the people on spark people are making a ton of lifestyle changes with nutrition and exercise. Making too many changes at once can throw everything of course. If a bit of splenda makes it easier to eat healthier, go ahead and add some. I don't think a teaspoon or two will hurt.

I don't use Splenda anymore. Artificial sweeteners aren't healthy for people. I use either Agave or honey. Otherwise, no artificial stuff goes into me.

How much do you think is too much. I usually have about 1.5 tsp with one cup of coffee but then I might add some to my oatmeal. I know there are not many calories there but is there such a thing as too much?
