there are lots of "at home" things you can use, derived from things often found around the house (eggs, for instance).

I try to stretch my salon visits to when I absolutely need them (for a cut).
Otherwise, I "wash and wear" my hair

You probably have no idea what the ingredients in the "treatment" are. I'm very conscientious about what I put in or on my body. The natural treatments I do at home work beautifully....and I know they're safe and organic, so I won't have health issues in the future, at least not from my hair products.

I bet you could find something cheaper over the counter. and do it yourself.

As in a salon, spending like 1 and a half hours and can be pretty pricey if you go regularly. My hair was like very dry and kept tangling up. I went for just one treatment, and now my hair is much softer, shinier and smoother. My hairdresser recommended that I go every month. I think I'll stretch it to once every 6 weeks. But as a regular thing, I don't know if I can afford it. I'll have to look for a cheaper alternative like a home treatment. But I also had a hair loss scalp treatment and my hair drops a lot less now.
