It is frustrating waiting for others to compliment you but don't forget that your family sees you everyday so they don't notice the small changes.
Take pictures and mesaurements of yourself with the date and in a month or two, take picture again and remeasure yourself. Take a good look in the mirror and you may see more ab muscles than before or your biceps are looking more toned or even less cellulite. If the scale is not budging, perhaps you are gaining muscle. 1 lb of muscle takes up less space than 1 lb of fat.
Just don't give up! I can't. My husband may not compliment my more defined (tho still fatty) abs but when I fit into a pair of jeans that haven't fit in 2 years, I know I'm doing well. Exercise for yourself, not for the compliments of otheres.

Proud Momma you're just like me! I have lost almost 30# (and could lose 70 more) and have received NO random feedback from family, friends or co-workers! Though i'm sure some of them must have noticed... gosh, I'm down from size 20w-22w to 16w-18w, you'd think it would show! I think people get uneasy about offering "weight related" compliments as it can be a touchy issue.
I have, however, started to receive generalized compliments, such as "wow that red is a great colour on you!" (same red blouse I wore 100x before! suddenly it's compliment-worthy!) or "wow you're all dressed up today!" (same skirt-suit I've worn at least twice a month all fall and winter, never got a "dressed up!" compliment about it before), or "new haircut? looks great!" (err, no haircut - just the same haircut hanging on thinner face tyvm :) ).
Yeah, waiting for validation from the outside can require a lot of patience!
As far as seeing results - there were some results I saw very quickly - for example how I FELT. No more acid reflux every night. No more bloated/overstuffed feeling at the end of every meal. No more ravenous-intense-pseudo-hunger, now that I'm eating a balanced diet and limiting simple/refined carbs and fast food and assorted "junk." These results happened quickly... within the first 1-2 weeks.
Somewhere between Week 2 and 4, I started to be able to climb stairs without hyperventilating at the end of one flight. Whee!
Somewhere between weeks 4 and 8, I really started to notice that my fat rolls are emptying out... I am not sure if I am 100% happy about being so "squishy!!!!" But hey, comes with the weight-loss territory.
The scale has been pretty consistent, I've been lucky with this. (2#/week give or take). Granted, I've been very rigorously sticking to my calorie ranges and "healthy" food selections... but I know that some people do all the same things I do, yet have a bigger fight with the scale before it starts to move. Every now and then it seems like the scale is moving "slowly" (when you have nearly 100 to lose, a pound or two at a time can feel SO SLOW!! but it is actually really good, and adds up to something significant pretty quickly).
Goal 1 - break 200 (46 pounds lost)**DONE** Goal 2 - leave obesity behind (BMI 29.9, at 185#) **DONE** Goal 3 - BMI = Normal (154# or less)

It can take as much as 6-8 weeks for healthy lifestyle changes to show up on the scale.
Any downward progress is progress... remember that this isn't the Biggest Loser ,and those kinds of fast results simply aren't typical (and for people without personal chefs, 8 hours to work out, and personal trainers, impossible to maintain)

Hi. I know it's frustrating when you have a lot to lose. Just stick with it, and find a way to live healthfully that you can sustain for life. I promise that you will see results. I weighed once a week and was so tied to that number. I'm on maintenance now and try to just weight once a month to keep it in check. Just try to enjoy the journey, learn new healthy meals, find new ways to exercise that you like. Put $ away every month just for new clothes, even a little. Every three months, buy something new to wear.
As far as SEEING results, it's easier in pictures. So start taking pictures of yourself wearing workout clothes. Every couple of months, take another picture. Because you see yourself in the mirror every day, it's hard to discern a difference. It's easier in pictures.
Oh! And I guess I could really see a difference every 10 lbs. I'm short, though, at almost 5'2, so a few lbs makes a difference.

i know that I havent been at this long, but results are always motivating....I dont see a lot of movement on the scale. I had my sister measure me last week so at the end of the month I will see how that looks. But for those that have lost a lot, when did things start changing for you?
