I quit all sweets. After 2-3 weeks, cravings go away.

I love chocolate too. I'm not a big eater of other sweets, but chocolate is my absolute favorite.
Here are some things that helped me.
1) Quit chocolate. It sounds weird, I felt like I went through a "withdrawal from chocolate". After a week or so, the cravings subsided.
2) Learn to replace the chocolate cravings with something else. For me, a green tea with mild caffeine and mint helped. It replaced the ritual of chocolate and was somehow soothing.
3) Enjoy chocolate in moderation. I think it is important to eat the things you enjoy as long as they don't trigger you. Chocolate and I now have a better relationship, but if I eat too much of it, I return to step #1.
I've loved chocolate since I was a skinny kid and I know we'll be together forever.
If you're going to redirect your craving, make sure you find something that works for you and won't just make you feeling more unsatisfied afterward. Personally, I find dried pineapple (get the all natural kind) to satisfy my sweet tooth when I need a pick me up, as long as it's in moderation (that's the key, because I could pop the stuff like candy). Grapes are great sweet satisfiers too.
If it has to be chocolate, I might turn to a glass of chocolate milk (supposed to be a great post-excersize choice) or a mug of (sugar free, if you need) hot cocoa. The reasoning is I'm less likely to binge on liquids I find. If I have a cookie, it's easier to say, oh I'll just have one more, and then one more, and one more. But I'm less likely to be like, I'll just make one more mug, and one more mug, and one more mug. Maybe because it's more filling volume-wise.

CREATIVECALICO and SUNSHINE are absolutely right. Ditch the diet pop and that will help immensely. It has been proven that diet drinks/artificial sweeteners actually make your cravings worse so that is where I would start.

Sucralose is an artificial sweetener. The majority of ingested sucralose is not broken down by the body and therefore it is non-caloric. It is actually SPLENDA. ADVERSE AFFECTS CAN ENLARGE THE LIVER AND KIDNEYS. It can casue headaches and muscle aches too!
Timed snacks give your body steady supply of fuel...Wasabi peas provide a low-fat snack and quick fuel for energy. A handful of wasabi peas amounts to about 120 calories. Trader Joe's and Walgreens.
Cottage Cheese and a handful of Matchstick carrots, flaxseeds
How about a hard boiled egg? Good Protein. or Pop[corn which has vitiamins and minerals a body needs. Surprised, yes... air popped popcorn.

If I am feeling snacky I chew sugar-free gum, which I give to myself as a freebie. Drinking lots of water helps too, or iced tea (I don't think diet soda helps me with cravings much). Also make sure you are not actually hungry -- if you are, have a healthy snack!
My most recent discovery is that if I take plain yogurt (I like 2% Fage) and add splenda and cocoa powder, I get something like a chocolate mousse -- delicious, and full of nutrients that keep me full. I add some berries too.
