this is a struggle for me too --- I'm actually here b/c I wanted to read others' tips and ideas --- wish I could offer more, but I'm at a loss --- pun intended and so much needed!

CYNTHIA1904: I definitely understand how living with your family can sometimes throw you off your game. When I was living with my family (there were 7 of us total) it was so hard to try to lose weight! One person would have snacks in the house, the others would want to go out to eat, and on top of that, all of the memories in that house, and the feelings and foods associated with it were VERY hard to get away from. To top it off, no one else in my family was 'fat' like me. It's really going to take some control and standing your ground with your family to let them know you are serious.

I have been overweight since I was 14. I'm 24 now-10 years of being fat! Of course my family didn't take me seriously when I said I wanted to diet, but it's the actions that are going to make them start taking you seriously and perhaps they might be a little more sensitive to your needs. Have you talked to anyone in your family about your goals? If you haven't that might be something you need to do to make them more aware of how their actions are affecting you.

best of luck to you!

How do you stay motivated if your the only one in your home trying to live a healthier lifestyle? I live with my family, it gets really hard sometimes because there are almost always sweets in the house and some weekends they want to eat out for almost every meal .You would think since I had very little trouble giving up meat 3 years ago sweets would also be a piece of cake (no pun intended lol) but a little debbie cake never had a cute furry face soo...lol IDK maybe its due to my childhood cookies and cakes were always around are maybe its an emotional thing but it seems to be a never ending battle to stick to my goals when everyone else is eating junk food and take out.
