I drink a gallon of water a day...every day. I keep my sodium as low as I can because that causes me to retain water in my hands and feet especially. I too quit a HUGE Diet Coke habit at the beginning of the year and trust me, it took some time (probably 3-4 weeks) for my body to 'figure it out'. I was bloated, I peed a million times a day, I didn't really feel that good, I lost a little weight but not like those who drop weight early in their journey. I think you have to stick with the water, keep drinking for several weeks and see if your body acclimates to the change. I think changing a bad habit like soda takes time for the body to "get"...my body did figure it out and I've had good results losing weight. If after 3-4 weeks the bloat doesn't resolve, I would see a doctor. Blessings on your journey.

I vote for less sodium. Generally people say 64 ounces of water a day and definately not more than 20 cups. I know people who drink a gallon a day. If your sodium intake isn't too high, you might want to see the doc. I don't think water should bloat you after a week or so.

Usually I would say drink more water and make sure you're not having too much salt in your diet. I also wonder if you're having bloating or edema because water should not cause "bloating" unless there is a problem with the kidneys or heart. If this is not the case then there are veggies like cucumbers that are natural diuretics that can help to get rid of excess fluid.
I'm sure someone has already mentioned this, but it probably has more to do with your sodium intake than your water intake. I bloat when I eat a lot of sodium, and drinking more water tends to help me with that.
I agree with the posts below, but would like to add that salt could be a factor too. Whenever I've had food high in salt, I will usually retain fluids for the next day to two. If you are tracking your foods on the nutrition page, you can check out your sodium intake here too, however, don't forget to add in any salt that you may have sprinkled on your food during the day.
With that amount of water your workouts should be very sweaty. If you are a more casual exerciser I would say drink less water. If you exercise very hard, say for example,800 cals or more burned(I don't know your specifics, just my numbers), and are still bloated, then it could be a problem with carbs. Where are you getting your carbs from? If you want to reduce bloat you need to be getting carbs from fruits and high fiber sources(ie. nothing white). I often drink that much water but do exercise very hard, however on my off days I do not need to drink that much water. Hope some of that helps.

I have always been a soda drinker my entire life. I am now almost 4 weeks free of soda entirely. I have been drinking water for almost all of my fluid intake now, up to 14 glasses a day. The problem is that I am feeling bloated and can see my belly floating. Especially the top portion of my abdomen. That along with the fact that, my scales aren't looking any better to me, is not helping. So, I ask all you veteran sparkpeople, how can I get the water bloat gone? Thank you
