It's not easy for me either, especially when I'm talking and distracted with lots of people around. I try to pick one or two things that I really want. Then, I tell myself that I will not go back for seconds or get anything else. Don't stand close to the desserts and try to keep them out of hands reach.
If you want to try a few more things, split the desserts or take very small portions. Good luck!
Camping IS a tough time. It's hard, but not impossible, to keep the eating in check, though. I just bring my own healthier foods, so I'm still snacking and eating with everyone around, but it's all beneficial to my body and health.
Sure, if I want (not *need*) a smores...then I'll have one. But I'm so used to eating healthy, that just one will be enough. This is a lifestyle change. It need not be life altering. Camping is a fun time, so enjoy it..just in a healthier way!

I try to control my portions instead of binging and if I go a little overboard, I don't beat myself up over it and I get back on track the next day.
I will try to bring my own fun/good snacks (some good chocolate, some of my favorite crackers). Sometimes that helps. It is hard sometimes not to snack when everyone else is - so having a food that I know how much I can have can help.
Or, I will make those events, days, my free days. Usually one day a week I don't track a thing and just eat what I want to. That keeps me from going crazy during the week when I try to be spot on. I know there will be times that I don't eat on plan and just look at it in the grand scheme of things. A few days out of 365 isn't going to completely de-rail me. (Now 100 of them might so just gotta be smart about it.)

"This is the day which the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it." I stay motivated by beginning again. Every day, every hour is another chance to do the next right thing, without looking back, beating myself up or comparing my journey with anyone else's.
We're still here, still trying and it is all good!!!!

I went camping Labor Day weekend with family and friends and was all set to not eat the junk food people brought, but once we got there....Sitting around chatting and having fun, the junk food went in and the scale went up. My will power is so weak!! What do you do to keep yourself in check in situations like these?
