I absolutely love the book The Beck Diet Solution. It is about training your brain to think differently regarding food and exercise. You do written exercises in the book and practice everything each day. It is probably the best weight loss book I have read, it all rang so true for me and targets all of the areas we struggle with when food is our issue. Maybe it can help you.

I guess I changed my mindset watching thin people die of obesity issues.. My husband to be fair to him was a child whom got diabetes type 1- he kept a below normal bmi to avoid his hips and knee killing him.. But I still have ½ of my family whom are up and down bean stalks.. They are naturally thin, eat what I thought was normally but died like obese people.. I got the free of chance visit to my husbands diabetes clinic and the intensive care watching them do 24 dialysis on his woren out body... www.guardian.co.uk/world/2012/jan/27/pip-b reast-implant-boss-mas My dad was active person, did hard manual work like boat building, loved to walk the beaches looking for amber and had a huge garden.. He pulled his own car apart, was a active member of the search and rescue club in his area and prefered to walk up to the bus and home instead of using his car daily.. He also did the sound system at motorbikes and car racing which required alot of physical exercise getting set up.. He died with the insides of a 90 year old aged 65.. I have alot of other people on my dads side of the family- they are thin but have the insides of obese people and die also..
It hit me, no one is safe.. People proclaim thin people can eat and eat- this is a huge black lie.. Thin people many times don't relate heart disease to themselfs- they think having a normal BMI they are safe.. Eat also little of the bad stuff regular to keep weight- thin people also pay the price.. This is the aha moment alot more people should wake up to..

I lost my weight, not through any surgery, but sheer grit. But for me losing weight was the EASY part, it was the keeping it off part that was the toughest part of the battle. I can happily report that this time I allowed myself to evolve. It took me 3 years to lose the weight and next week it will be 7 years since I started my journey. For the first time EVER in my 50 years (30 plus which were spent on a perpetual diet) I have kept the weight off longer than it took me to lose it.
I don't focus on any particular area. I enjoy what I do, which is run. For me running is what allowed me to let go of the wall I had put up between me and exercise. And because of that I now elect to put the best fuel in my tank which means watching those calories.

There are tens of thousands of books on how to lose weight, but there are none on how to cope with the psychological changes are bodies also go through. That's something we have to learn on our own. Although, I will say that I've learned quite a bit from the Spark forums. Reading and replying to different posts and questions has made me think differently about my body. So, if you want to learn more about yourself, try replying to some of the questions other people leave. Some of those questions can be quite profound and make us think.
Will you change your mindset ? It takes time, but yes, you can change your body and the way you think. BUT, you have to be open to change. If you tell yourself you're never going to change, that's a self fulfilling prophecy. If you want to change, you have to be willing to come out of your comfort zone to embrace change. Change can be scary. but, if you are brave, change can happen. take a chance on yourself !
As far as gastric bypass, have you joined any of the gastric bypass spark teams ? You may find it helpful to talk to other members who've gone through the procedure.

I do not know where to ask this question. Have you changed your mindset somehow ? When I lost the weight the first time i felt like a fake, a fat person in a thinner body, but i was still proud to have lost weight. I kept the weight off 3 years and then it crept back on because my mind was not changed. I am still the same person or inner child inside. I was wondering if the people who go through gastric bypass programs get some kind of exercises or program that helps with this. I, like many here have read a thousand diet books but this is never mentioned. Fake it til you make it worked to get the weight off but it did not maintain it. Any insight would be appreciated.
