I sure have been there and done that plenty. Sometimes I am able to avoid it, other times no way.
1. I often just don't go placers where I know there will be temptations. 2. Sometimes I can busy myself with other things and talk myself out of binging. 3. Sometimes I just take it five minutes or so a time to hold off before I begin, and before I know it, I am over it 4. Have healthy snacks that you can eat ( I know, easier said than done) 5. Leave the area...when the weather is good I have taken a walk when that urge arises to binge.
bottom line... I don't think there is a way. You just have to find your own way to realize you want to lose weight and be healthy more than you want the binging.

Binging 3 days a week is definitely too much. I feel for you though. Sometimes I act like I'm never going to eat again when I'm in a certain environment such as a buffet, xmas party, office party, etc. Until you can really get a handle on your eating you need to remove yourself from those environments. It sucks, but it's the only thing that works for me. I know I can't handle a buffet and probably never will be able to, so I just stay away.
It's a mental thing, talk to a dietitian who can steer you the right direction, but that still may not mean you will find any cure to it, only some control. Food is comfort, satisfaction, and something no person, place or thing can offer you, so we keep going back to it. And that's the truth, it's like a bad lover, you aren't being satisfied, so you keep going back to find the one that did................
I usually eat bad things when I am alone in my car. My demons talk to me and tell me to stop for fast food even if I am not hungry. But I pass several on the way home. So now when I have the urge, I try to call a friend. So far it helps.
Are you under stress? That can lead to bingeing. Once in a while is not bad if you get right back on track but three times in a week might mean something is wrong. I binge when I've had a bad day at work, that does it for me. But at an office party you want to enjoy yourself and that's normal.

I have reduced my carb intake substantially (virtually no grains) as well as processed foods and I have stopped bingeing. Not that I am not tempted, but I seem to be able to mange it now whereas before it was "Katie bar the door". I think I was spiking my blood sugar too much when I ate, which affected my whole hunger system.

Because it's there and you don't want to deprive yourself. Office parties totally sabotage our efforts. There have been plenty of times I don't partake, and plenty of times I gorged myself. Try to balance it out. One "free" calorie day a week is fine as long as you are sticking to a program the rest of the time. That's my opinion.

Today, was not a good day. We had an office party and I binged on junk food. I wasn't hungry. I have maybe three days like this a week and not sure how I can stop. I have knowledge on what to do, but why do I keep bingeing?
