Well, for me it was a 35 year journey. We had met in college and dated for about 1.5 years. It was love at first sight for me. We had talked about getting married back then, but youth being what it is we broke up. I married and had a son. Then right after my separation from my husband my former love and I reconnected. He had never married. Again, it was the same as the first time. 20 days after we met again, he proposed at a hockey game. I was stunned to say the least! And now, after my divorce is final I will be marrying the love of my life. emoticon

It was Christmas Eve. He actually gave me a back massager and I was reading the huge WARNING in the front cover. The first thing is said was "DO NOT PUT ON TESTICLES" and I was reading this aloud when Matt handed me a box, with the ring in it. He said "well?" I said yes and we went on to watch sports center. I was so embarrassed after the testicle comment I just froze. HAHA

We go to karaoke every week and one night during a break between 2 songs he pulled me up in front of everyone and gave me a bear from build a bear. He had gotten one that you could record a message so when i pushed the button on the bear's hand, it played his proposal message. It was so cute and everyone cheered!!!

Alex and I have been together about 5.5 years and he proposed to me the day after christmas, 2012. :D I had to work on christmas day, so we did our christmas on the 26th. We each opened up all of our gifts and were sitting on the couch watching the tree lights, just snuggling :D He asked if I got everything I wanted, and of course I said yes.

He told me I had one more present to open, but I had to find it. He sent me on an hour long scavenger hunt all over the house finding about 12 clues he hid a few days before christmas. :D He recorded the ENTIRE thing, which I am SO grateful for!!!

On my last clue he told me, "now this might be the last clue. Do you want to continue or save it for later?" I told him he was crazy if he thought I wanted to wait even one more minute! :D I found the ring box and he put the ring on my finger while holding our video camera. :D Perfect proposal, perfect guy. :)

I gave my boyfriend a Chicago vacation for Christmas including a Citypass to see some museums and the Willis Tower (formerly Sears Tower) and then for our anniversary, I gave him Bon Jovi tickets. My sweet gift to him.

First night there was the Bon Jovi concert, and on the way home, we get a flat, and it's my time of the month. Great vacation, I complain almost all night! Second day, we go to Walmart to get a new tire and I'm still complaining...then we head out to some museums and decide to do the Willis Tower that night.

I'm complaining that my feet hurt and that I hate crowded elevators as we go up to the top. Then, once up there, I get so excited about going out onto the glass floor room that I start running in that direction. Chris says, "don't you want to sit here for a minute and rest your feet?" and then he crouches down himself. I say, "Ok, fine, I guess, my feet do hurt" Then he says, "isn't it a beautiful sight" and I look out the window and say, "yeah, it's gorgeous" and he said "so are you" and then asked me. I turn to look at him and he's on one knee with the ring. I start crying and say yes. emoticon

Funny thing was, in such a public place, no one noticed! Which is good, cuz I would've been really embarrassed! We bought a blown glass replica of the building and got our picture taken on "The Ledge" and we're using both souveniers at our reception. What a sweetie! Didn't see it coming since Christmas and our anniversary had passed and there was no romantic gesture. Guess he was just waiting for me to set him up perfectly! emoticon

He reserved table over looking Lake Arrowhead to view their 4th of July fireworks show. My children & his parents were there. When I Ilfted my son out of the highchair and set him down I turned and saw Dave down on the ground. I thought he had dropped something and I bent down to help him when I realized that he was on one knee and thats when he held out the box with the ring in it and asked... "will you" to which I said, "will I what?" lol I wasn't going to let him off that easy! lol He asked if I would marry him & of course I said yes. Then my teenage daughter turned to everybody else there and announced to them that I had said yes and they clapped / cheered.

I am so thankful for such a great story for my memory book.

Hotel in the city; Indian food; last performance of Cabaret at the Repertory Theatre. Surprised me at intermission. Can't remember much of the last half (which is okay, really, because the last half of Cabaret is mostly Nazis and desperation). Romantic? Absolutely! In a twisted sort of way. :)

I KNEW he was planning on proposing....he proposed on december 10th...

he took me out to dinner at a gorgeous PRICEY restaurant for my birthday....the food was awesome....as we finished eating we were talking about hiring a maid (we've lived together for 6 years--been together for 8)...when he interrupted and said he had brought me there for another reason and that he wanted to ask me to marry him....and then put the ring box (unopened) in front of me......

we're really not romantic...lol...but it was sooo sweet.....on our way to the train station to go home there was a harley davidson display set up where you could sit on harley's to get your pic taken....our first engagement photo!!!!!

It was a crazy day and I was not happy with him! He proposed to me on the grassy hill in our backyard. This was the same day that I was moving out of his house! For some reason I said yes even though I was leaving him. That was ten years ago and we now have four beautiful children! Life is crazy!

We were in Florida on vacation and my fiance built a sandcastle. I thought he was just having fun and reliving his childhood haha. He found a bunch of seashells to decorate it and an intentionally ugly seashell to put on top of it. He then said that he would like me to find a pretty seashell for the top because his wasn't pretty enough. When I removed the ugly seashell from the top to replace it with the pretty white one I found, there was my ring sitting in the sand. It was the most perfect beach day ever.

For my last birthday, my fiance recreated our first 3 dates. He ended the night with a midnight picnic on the beach and he poured champagne for both of us to celebrate. Little did I know, it said "Will you marry me?" on my champagne glass. Of course I said yes, but I also said "My legs feel like spaghetti." I still get goosebumps thinking about it! It was definitely one of the most special moments of my life.

My situation was a little bit... Different. When I was "engaged to", it was really just "IN THEORY IF I PROPOSED TO YOU THIS MIGHT BE SORTA LIKE WHAT I WOULD DO MAYBE". I guess you could say it was like a promise ring? I have no idea. It was weird, but fun, and he did a fantastic job with it. This was also a while ago and with a different guy than I'm with now. BUT SERIOUSLY, HE DID SO WELL THAT I WANT TO COMMEND HIM ON A JOB WELL DONE.

For my birthday he took me to an absolutely AMAZING seafood restaurant. He told me to dress up really nicely, so I put on my highest heels and my prettiest dress and figured I was going to have one awesome birthday.

The guy I was with could do an absolutely incredible Scottish accent (seriously spot on. Even when he traveled around Scotland, everyone believed his accent was real), and as soon as we got to the restaurant he threw it on. Which was weird, but whatever... It was always cute.

He immediately asked the waitress what she suggested and she, beaming, said, "our oysters are amazing, I definitely would recommend those." I have to say that I absolutely LOVE oysters, so I was game! When the tray came out and I ate a couple, I suddenly noticed something hard underneath one of the oysters and... Sure enough. It was a totally fake engagement ring. I KNEW it couldn't be real because I had just talked to him about how I wanted a fake engagement ring to keep creeps at school from hitting on me, but I still dropped my oyster and started crying as all the waitresses came out and started clapping and making this huge deal out of it. The actual full on sobbing commenced when total strangers came up to us JUST LIKE IN THE MOVIES and kept congratulating us.

Apparently the Scottish accent was because he had gone to the restaurant earlier in the day to make the arrangements, and he had learned that people tended to be nicer/easier to work with if he had an accent, so he'd been using it the whole day. Weird, huh?

Also, the ring was bought at Macy's, so luckily not much money was spent.

At least now if I ever get proposed to for real and it isn't exactly my dream proposal, I still have something I can look back on and smile fondly about? A silly game, but it was fun and well done.

It was our 4 yr anniversary. He chartered a 42' sailboat to take us on a sunset cruise but it was slightly cloudy. Just about 15 minutes before the sun set, it broke through the clouds, and he proposed just as the sun slipped into the Gulf. Best part was that the captain (who had taken us out a year before) was in on it, so there are pictures!

We took a week long trip to Fort Lauderdale, FL. We stayed there for a couple days and realy enjoyed ourselves. On April 19 we got on a cruise ship for a 2 day stay at a resort in Freeport. That night while we were on the boat we went into the ships club and had drinks, ate at the restaurant and then went to the comedy club. He asked me if I would like to go up on the top deck of the boat and see the stars. I agreed but when we got out there it was cloudy. He had me walk around the deck and we ended up at the front of the ship with a view of a full moon. Such a gorgeous sight. He got on one knee and proposed on our 5 year 8 month anniversary emoticon

We where on holiday with some family in January/February 2011 at Margate. I mentioned that I would like to get up early one morning to take some sunrise pictures at the beach.

On the 30th of January 2011, SO woke me up very early and said to get my gear. It was just the two of us that took the stroll down.

With the camera set up on the tripod, we sat on the beach, waiting for the sun to rise.

Just as the sun started to peek through the clouds over the ocean, he popped the question. And off course I said YES!!

We walked along the beach then wrote our initials and date in the sand, before heading back to the holiday flat and enjoyed the rest of our holiday as an engaged couple!

Needless to say, not many pictures where taken of the sunrise that morning ;) But I managed to capture us with the help of the tripod and timer.. pics are on our wedding blog if anyone likes to see.. mayweddingplans.wordpress.com/

We went to this great little town on the shore of Lake Michigan, walked around, had lunch, etc. Then we managed to get the LAST parking spot at this local beach that's well known for being beautiful (Oval Beach for anyone from Michigan). It was my first time seeing the lake, even though I've lived out here for a year and a half (I know! It was a terrible oversight since I only live an hour away, but you know...). Anyway, we walked down the beach, got waterlogged in the waves and dodged a dead fish. Then we spent some time sitting on a driftwood log talking and he asked me if I was sure I still wanted to marry him. My response was of course, and he pulled my (beautiful) ring out of his pocked where he had been carrying it for two days! All in all very adorable and very us. Then we went out to dinner at the same place we had our first date exactly a year earlier to celebrate.

These are so wonderful! My fiance proposed over the phone when we were both apart, not by choice, and missing each other terribly. So I didn't get the ring until he came back home, but it was an amazing reunion :)

My guy did a good job! Just got engaged (this past sunday). We were at my parents' 35th anniversary dinner party at a Brazilian Steakhouse in Norfolk, VA. He got the waiter to help him out. My father and older sister knew about the engagement. He asked my dad and older sister for their permission first. While we were eating, the waiter dimmed the lights and put on Frank Sinatra's "you look good tonight" song on. He stood up and pledged his love and got down on one knee and proposed. I was totally in shocked and everyone in the restaurant was teary eye. emoticon

We went to Seattle to visit our best friend, and on the coldest, rainiest day in October we went hiking (yes, in the rain), got totally soaked, but our last stop was a waterfall I'd really been wanting to see. When we were getting ready to leave he just pulled the ring out and that was that! Doesn't sound picturesque, but it was perfect for us.

I am a French teacher so over spring break, my fiance took me to the top of the Eiffel Tower (in Vegas, I only get a week off, so Paris was not going to happen) and after I almost sabotaged his proposal (ON ACCIDENT) he got down on one knee and proposed. It was the first time in the 10 years we have been dating, that I was completley speechless, I actually had to hold on to the guard rail for balance.

My fiance proposed on HIS birthday, at his birthday lunch at our favorite pho place. We eat there at least once a week, so nothing seemed out of the norm. We had finished our soup and he walked around the table and got on one knee and popped the question! Everyone clapped and I was totally embrassed, but it was perfect. I had absolutely no idea what he had planned, so he definitly had the element of suprise. : ) We'll be married in April 2012, so I've got alot of planning and dieting to do.

I figured I would share our story as the proposer since I'm the one that belongs to this site!

My (now wife, tied the knot on 10 June) and I were on vacation in South Africa for the World Cup. We don't particularly love soccer, but we both love South Africa and go every chance we get.

Anyway, she had never been to Cape Town so I convinced her to climb Table Mountain with me. It was pretty warm that day, and we were both rather out of shape but we finally made it to the top (I didn't remember it being that difficult a couple of years previous!). At the top we sat down and we were chatting, I was trying to be romantic and butter her up since I knew what was coming. We got onto the topic of getting married (we had discussed it many times before) and I said that we should plan on it, and when we got home from South Africa she could pick out a ring etc etc. I said that I would make her a ring out of grass from some on top of the mountain as a promise of sorts. We went on a hunt for the perfect piece of grass to fold into a ring.

In the mean time, I got the real ring out of my bag and put it in my pocket. I picked up a piece of grass and said, "What about this piece?" She said, "OK" So while she was playing with the grass I pulled out the real ring and said, "No wait, what if I use this one instead" When she saw the real ring the look on her face was priceless.

Then I knelt down and popped the question!

I was leaving the country in one week for a project in Asia. We had spoken a lot about getting married and even discussed rings. He knew I was hoping to be engaged when I left, just because I wanted to feel that connection and have something to be excited about because we would be apart for 2 months. But he really wanted to wait and propose when he came to visit me at the end of my project.

So...I had no idea what was going to happen. We went to dinner on a Thursday night at our favorite restaurant and sat outside, despite the fact that he had bronchitis and I was getting over a cough almost as severe. It ended up being super windy and pretty chilly. He had been planning to ask then but decided it didn't feel right because we were both coughing and the wind was so annoying.

So... :-) .... the next morning, Friday, we were eating our breakfast and chit chatting about work and the weekend. He had this strange nervous look on his face, like he needed to tell me something. I said "Are you ok? You look stressed out." He took my hand and said (I'm paraphrasing) "You're right. I can't wait two more months. This is our time. Like this, doing every day things, together, every day, we're perfect. And I want you to marry me. Will you marry me?"

Of course I said YES!!!! He is my heart and soul and oatmeal has never tasted so good. We kept tearing up on the drive to work. I was so excited. It was so special and perfectly us.

With my first husband, we met in New York in a park that is the way he wanted to propose but it was raining, instead we went to a really nice Italian restaurant. After we had our supper he had a dessert brought out which I thought was odd because I don't like dessert. However the tiramisu had writing on the plate that said "Will You Marry Me" in chocolate. He pulled out the ring and I'm still not to certain what he said beyond "Baby I've never been so happy in my life since we met. I had this ring made for you."

Last year we went to the Outer Banks...I was told we were getting a group picture taken. while waiting, I was looking for seashells. My fiancee called me over to tell me about this huge shell he found. He was already down on one knee. Instead of handing me a huge shell, he asked me if I would marry him...Of course my first reaction was surprise, followed by screaming, followed by yes, and then crying...need less to say, group picture was put off for another day and the rest of our beach crew was in on the proposal....Best day ever. In a couple of weeks, we will be vacationing there again and plan on having a nice picnic near the same place he proposed last year.

We met online and our first meeting was at Barnes & Noble. That first day we both bought the book "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance". We had been dating for just under 3 years and we were preparing to go on a cruise just after valentine's day 2010. On Valentine's day we went to our favorite restuarant and then he said we should stop at B&N to pick up some books for the cruise. We stopped in bought a few books and had a drink at the coffee bar just like our first date. We walked back out to the car and he handed me a gift.

It was freezing as it was winter in Upstate NY but I opened it and it was the first book we bought together. Inside was a note that read..."From our first book to our very last, I will love you forever. I promise. Will you marry me?" The ring was also tied into the book and he got down on one need. It started to snow slightly and we were both chattering with cold but it was so perfect. :)

Ok, my fiance is very sweet and romantic- but not very outgoing! So how he proposed totally surprised me:

He met me in Seattle to spend Christmas with my family (at the time I was in WY, he was in MN). Christmas morning at the end of service, my pastor (who is a close family friend) made an announcement that even though many of our members (about 2/3 of our church is my relatives and we all do Christmas the same way) exchanged gifts on Christmas eve, there was somebody who was saving a special gift for that morning because he wanted our church family to be a part of it... and then my now-fiance takes my hand and practically drags me out of the pew up to the front of the church and tells me "I could spend all day professing my love for you, but I'd rather do it with a single question" and then dropped to one knee and asked me to marry him... I was so excited I just stood there for a good minute before I remembered to squeak out a yes! =)

It was extra special because my grandpa and his brothers and their dad built our church, so that building itself is a big part of my family history, and my family and my faith are the two most important things to me. My grandparents were the first couple to get married there, my parents got married there, and now I'm going to too! =)

I love the beach, so he took me away to a Cape May, NJ, B&B for a long weekend. When we arrived, I noticed champagne and flowers in our room, but I assumed both came with the room - clueless me! My (now) husband was so nervous that he found himself speechless when he handed me the box containing the ring. He needn't have worried - there's no way I would have turned him down! :)

I was 4 months pregnant, and we were in cincinatti so i could meet the rest of his family. It was our last day of vacation, and we were going to the krohn conservatory. i accidentally told him to turn into a parking lot that i thought was the conservatory, but it was really eden park. we wandered around eden park, and when we were crossing a little foot bridge over a pond full of ducks, he got down on one knee and proposed. It was wet and dreery outside, and i just kept asking him why he was on the wet ground and what he was doing until i figured it out haha!

I had been with my boyfriend for 4 years when I decided to come teach in South Korea. I didn't want to leave my home or boyfriend, but I was having no luck finding a job else where. My boyfriend still had to finish school.

After settling in, my boyfriend and I spoke regularly. We both downloaded Skype. Despite all the neigh sayers, we decided that we wanted to make our relationship work.

A few days after my birthday we were on Skype and he asked me to order pizza from Domino's and he did the same. I ate an early lunch and he ate a very late snack. In the middle of eating he stared at me and told me he had something important to say. He told me I was beautiful and he was so lucky to have me. He said he couldn't imagine the rest of his life without me because he already missed me so much. He asked me to marry him.

A few days later, I received the ring in the mail. He is coming to Korea to teach. He should be arriving in a few months, and are plan is to get married here.

We were in Pittsburgh, that's where his family is from and I fell in love with the city while I was falling in love with him. He took me to the top of Mt. Washington to a restaurant that overlooks the 3 rivers. The whole city was seen from sitting right by the window, and it was absolutely breath-taking.

As we were leaving to go back down the incline, which is so scary being pulled up and down. We stopped to overlook the city outside, and it was absolutely gorgeous out. As we were standing on the overlook he told me that he loved me more than anything in the world, and that he couldn't imagine spending his life with anyone else. Then, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him!
