I've finished reading Gary Taubes book "Good Calories, Bad Calories" and found it to be the most interesting book since he researched all the information on diets back over the past 100 years. Now many Universities are funded by companies like Mars (they make M&M's), Kraft Foods, General Mills, etc. Then there are the huge pharmacy companies making billions on selling pills. So, he found a conflict in what we are told about what is good for us & what the studies really show. I've learned so much about Insulin Resistance/Metabolic Syndrome and why I gained 50# after I had my hysterectomy. I know that I have to follow a low carb diet as I just can't eat processed sugar/starches. Yes, those M&Ms and that bowl of Rice Krispies just make me crave more. His book is well worth reading.
