It kind of depends on the person. Some people can control their caloric intake very well feeding as many as 5 times a day. If you are such a person, obviously breakfast is important.
There are other people who can control their intake very well eating once or twice a day. Eating 5 times a day cause them to overeat. These people rather stay away from food, and once they eat, they must eat quite a bit. So they should eat once or twice a day. For such people, eating breakfast is not important, and most of them don't eat any breakfast.
I personally tried both, and for a long time (about half a year each), and I belong to the second group. So I prefer to eat few times in a given day. But I start with a breakfast that is pretty heavy on the protein and fat side and very light on the carb side. My next meal is dinner. By the end of the dinner, I even end up consuming up to 20% less than my daily allowed min calories. So I can snack on some fruit after dinner without exceeding my daily range.
Technically, there is no one meal more important than others for fat loss, because all your body cares about is how many calories that it can consume daily. It really does not matter if it gets all of the daily calories to be consumed in 5 hours, and the remaining 19 hours it gets no calories, or it gets every hour 1/24th of the daily calories to be consumed. The choices are numerous, and largely a question of convenience or personal preference.

From what I understand, eating in the morning restarts your metabolism earlier than eating your first meal at lunch. Night fasting, cause of sleep, also deprives the body of nutrients / calories so it starts to burn muscles as energy source. Less muscles = less metabolism.
Personally, I try to atleast drink a glass of protein shake in the morning if im in a hurry just to stop my body from eating my muscle and it also kickstarts my metabolism for the whole day cause our body uses energy to digest protein
Well, this is just from what I understand and what I've been following.
How important is it to eat breakfast? Do you notice that when you eat breakfast you lose more weight? I haven't eaten breakfast this week because I am not normally hungry in the morning but I also know that it means I have more calories at lunch and dinner time. But at the same time I have noticed in the last week that the scale has not moved, could it be because I am not eating breakfast?
