The biggest aid for me on the weekends is to continue to not eat in front of the TV, hit the gym and then have my husband act as a control mechanism for me. I only eat when he eats (he eats smaller meals frequently throughout the day) and we have finally gotten on track with my portions have to be even smaller than his. So, we will cook and I'll take a small amount and he finishes the rest.

If I have time to sit around snacking, that means I'm forgetting to do something else. There is always something to be cleaned, studied, or otherwise attended to.
I find weekends a little easier to stay on track simply because I actually have more time to grocery shop and carefully plan out each meal. Also, I have way more time to exercise so I typically do a little more in the gym on the weekends.
Thanks Star! They don't explicitly forbid us, and my roommate and I actually have a little fruit basket on top of our microfridge! I haven't seen celery in so long, none of the dining halls have it. But now that you mention it...that's definitely worth a trip to the super market. Maybe I'll walk there after break =]

Tennis do they let you take things out of the cafeteria? salads are good..i myself would buy a bag of baby carrots and one of celery..(if you have a fridge) and when i got back to the dorm i would cut several stalks of celery into bite size pieces..and stand the rest in a glass of water in the fridge (keeps it fresh but be sure to cut off the bottom) then keep peanut butter, italian dressing, and or hummus for dips. quick snack..lots of crunchy to keep you happy, and filling!!! Fruit is good too..my college let us leave with an apple or banana or peach..if you do that every meal you can have an assortment for when the munchies hit!!
I brush my teeth a lot...like 5 times a day. I hate when my mouth isn't fresh, so that keeps me from eating as much. Luckily for me, I also hate eating chocolate candy (my weakness!) in summer when it's hot, so that helps me out.
Any good tips for healthy munchies on a college campus with a meal plan? I hate spending money in the supermarket when I'm already paying for meals here

Doesn't matter which day of the week. Just be careful
Hello and so glad to hear about the loss ! Very good! I think the knowledge that I was determined to weigh myself this morning kept me from going berserk ! How could I admit to my fellow Sparkies that I had fallen at the very first hurdle ? Yes it is quite possible to have pleasant lifestyle which includes more than 3 lettuce leaves a day if you plan and make proper adjustments to your portion sizes. It's taken me a long time to accept that my portion sizes were HUGE ! Sad , but true. Have a brilliant week ahead , hope to check in with you later this week.
I had a great weekend stayed on track (mostly) and was down 0.8 lbs this morning. I allowed myself a few treats this weekend but planned the rest of my meals accordingly. I think the trick to changing your lifestyle is learning how to fit in some treats without going overboard. Glad to hear you had a successful weekend. Have a great week!
Good Morning ! I tried your suggestion - and it worked ! Down 0.5kgs. or 1lb. this morning from Friday. Goodbye and good riddance ! Don't come back ! How was your weekend ? Hope you've also said goodbye to pounds and pounds and that they never plague you again!
That's a good idea. I usually weigh on Fridays , with the idea that it will spur me on to avoid going berserk all weekend and spoiling my efforts. I'm afraid it doesn't always have the desired effect! But on the few occasions when I've weighed on Monday and the results have been better than expected I've been really inspired.Perhaps a change in weigh in day will make a difference. I'm going to try that. Thanks , and may your Monday be really wonderful !
Yes when you feel that control it's great , to know you don't have to have that extra portion. You don't have to give in. All the very best for your weekend too !

The simplest way for me is to weigh in on Mondays so I keep that in mind all weekend!
Yes , that's a big issue for me too. A nice glass of wine to relax and one with dinner , even if it's a very innocent meal can quickly lead to a few more than I intended. Why don't we keep one another in mind and check in here on Monday morning ( I'm in South Africa so it'll be afternoon for me !) to see how we did ? Once you achieve that feeling of control , that you control your food intake , it doesn't control you , then you can beat this thing ! I'll be thinking of you.
I am having the same concern. Eating is tied to so many of the fun activities that are associated with weekends. Dinner and drinks, popcorn with a movie, etc. I do try to exercise first thing in the morning on the weekends so at least I've done something beneficial but sometimes I feel like I've blown my week's hard work by the end of the weekend.
My first weekend as a Sparky coming up. I've faced many diet weekends before on my own , but now I'm a Sparky ! How do other Sparkies face them , and win ? What motivates you to work through them and find that by Monday morning , your self esteem is not in shreds ?
Summer produce is overflowing--and cheap! Whether you grow it or buy it, it's easy to preserve your food so that you can save money and eat better long after the harvest is over.
