I usually get my tree up after shopping on the black friday. Then when my kids get home we decorate it together. This year I was short one child because we couldn't get everybodies work schedules to work out and that was REALLY hard for me to do without one of my children.

I love Christmas, but we always wait until after my birthday (December 13) to decorate the house and get the tree. Silly, I know, but it just feels like my birthday when there aren't any Christmas decorations.

My Hubby-to-be always decorated with his family on Thanksgiving, my family waited until after my birthday (Dec. 16) they wanted Christmas and my birthday to be separate. We compromised this year and did it on the first, I thought that worked out lovely!

I was going to decorate today, but we are butchering today. Bummer. Hopefully it will go fast.

I love Thanksgiving and Christmas, but I have not decorated for either one for the last several years.

We put up our tree over the weekend...mainly so the elf on the shelf would returm from the north pole.

I would prefer to get started right after Thanksgiving so that I can enjoy the decorations for a month before taking them all down. DH brought all the bins up from the basement over the weekend, so we'll be doing a little bit every day now.

I like to wait until after Thanksgiving too. So I started decorating this weekend. The hard part is that I love holiday decorations and I tend to forget what I have. So if I am shopping on Black Friday weekend I want to buy decorations! This year I bought a new house for my village. Turns out it is bigger than the other size houses. I don't know if I am going to keep it or return it!

I love to decorate for each holiday, although this year I have flet stressed to get it done. And it dawned on me that I am the one who expects it, so lighten up already! I refuse to decorate for Christmas before Thanksgiving, because I enjoy the fall decorations so much. Garland and lights go up, candles in the windows, but not much more than that until about the 15th of Dec, which is when we usually put in the tree. The tree stays in until after Christmas, around New Year's Day.

If decorating helps you de-stress and have something to look at that makes you smile then go for it, I tend to wait until the weekend after Thanksgiving to start Christmas decorating, that way I have the stress of only one holiday at a time. If I had to plan and cook Thanksgiving Dinner and chase kids out of Christmas ornaments I'd be batty in no time. I'm not far from it now, come to think of it...

emoticon OK Thanksgiving is coming right around the corner. I have already taken the tree out of the attic and ready to decorate on Friday. I definitely wouldn't to shopping on Friday. emoticon

For me I always wait until after Thanksgiving to decorate for Christmas, but part of that is that I love having the fall pumpkin decorations in my house. I have seen a couple houses that are already lighting their houses at night and have trees in their window, so for some people it's not to early. Also, if you have the time now, go for it as you might not have enough time later.

I don't like to rush the season, or skip major holidays....
so we are still decorated for Thanksgiving.
We will start Christmas after that.

Costco had Christmas stuff in August! emoticon

If it makes you happy then decorate all you want, when you want & enjoy it! emoticon

I'd recommend not decorating the exterior until emoticon , though.

I prefer waiting until it's closer to Christmas. I don't get into elaborate decorating anyway, and that's not what the holiday is about for me. Stores seem to have Christmas stuff out earlier every year and by the time Christmas arrives I'm sick of seeing the lights and trees. I noticed Lowe's had Christmas stuff out as early as September this year. Just my preference, though!

It's way too early for me but I prefer to wait until Thanksgiving is past. I do, however, know people who have already started.

Is it too early to start decorating for Christmas?
