Coach Nancy is right. We can't change the past, but we can change the future. What's past has past. Instead, let's start thinking about things you can do to make your future a little healthier. The first thing I would tell you is to not look at weight loss with an all or nothing mentality. Any positive thing you do for yourself is a good thing. In fact, if the only healthy thing you were to do for yourself today was to drink 8 glasses of water, that's still a step in the right direction. Today, you drink 8 glasses of water. tomorrow, you drink 8 glasses of water and you take a 30 minute walk.
Set simple goals. Take baby steps literally and figuratively. Don't make your goals too ambitious. Don't say you're going to workout every day for an hour if you're not used to working out for an hour. How about starting your new exercise routine with a daily walk ? Studies have shown that people who take a brisk 30 minute walk each day can reduce their risk for heart disease by over 30%.
Would you like to reduce your risk for heart disease ? Then how about that daily walk. Take a look at the fitness section. Coach Nicole has a bunch of different short 10-15 minute workouts posted online. Try 1 of those workouts each day. Doesn't seem like much ? That's the point. You start with small changes you can stick with. With time and regular practice, those small changes will become a habit.
Remember, this isn't a diet. this is a lifestyle change. Change takes time. thus the need to be patient with yourself and your body.
So, how about that daily walk ?
if you'd like, ask the hubby to join you.
