My daughter and I are both coordination challenged, have next to no rhythm, but we pop in this DVD when no one else is home, and it is a blast. We may not be ready to hit a dance floor anytime soon, but it is extremely fun, and we're burning calories all at the same time.

I plan to start Hip Hop Abs within the next 2 weeks, when I get it in. I'm really looking forward to starting it. If you get it, I hope it works out well for you!

Some of the routines are a little tricky ... but I had found the 3 basic ones to be quite learn-able. Most moves are simple and straightforward. Also, Sean-T (the leader) is quite good at teaching choreography. He breaks each step down and you learn each part separately ... then you put them together.
Hip Hop Abs was one of the first DVD sets I bought back near the beginning of my "journey" about 5 years ago. I was in my early 50's, 5 feet 2 inches tall, and weighed about 180 pounds back then. However, while I was never a good dancer ... I have a musical background and a good sense of rythm.
BUT ... and this is the important part ... the most important thing is to not worry about doing things perfectly. The culture of the DVD (and most other good DVD's) is to just give it a try. You won't do it well the first time ... nor the second ... not even the third. But you will get a little better at it as you do it over and over again. And as you focus on learning the steps, you will be burning lots of calories and getting in better shape.
I have a friend who tries DVD's but gives up right away if she finds something she can't do right the first time ... so she never gets anywhere because she never really tries.
I have found that DVD's that are too easy when I first do them ... quickly become boring and not hard enough to give me a good workout. Just relax and laugh through it.
My daughter would like me to order hip hop abs so she and I can do it together. Has anyone who is 50 to 100 pounds overweight or larger done this workout? I'm glad she's wanting to exercise but does this video require a great deal of coordination?
