You can eat rice every night, but just make sure you are eating within your ranges. Good luck. I hope you enjoy the site. It has so much to offer.

Welcome Dikari! That's great that you're trying to help your daughter while also helping yourself. Believe me she will learn from your example alone, but guiding her too will be a major plus side. I remember when I was around that age, well a little older, and I would walk with my mom after she had her gastric bypass surgery. We walked at least a few times a week and it was fun just having "girl time" and get away from my stepdad and brother lol. Make it fun for your daughter's as well as your own sake. The more fun you're having exercising and learning to eat healthier, the more you'll stick with it because it'll be a bit easier. My advice is to find some recipes to make with rice that are healthy, or other recipes that might interest you (there are a lot on here) and make them with her. Go for a walk with her, if she likes any sport- even remotely, ask her if she'd play a game of it with you. Start small too, you don't want to push you or her too hard in the beginning.
Good for you making these first steps to better your health. My maternal grandpa had multiple heart surgeries and a pacemaker. Plus diabetes runs in my family as well as high blood pressure. I don't know about cholesterol, but it's a slippery slope.

I am new to this web site. I am from Tenino, WA, I am 43 years old, I have been divorced twice and I work for a Family Practice doctor that is very active in exercising. He told me that I am over weight during a visit that I had with him. Obesity does run in my family. My dad went in and had a double bypass because of his weight and high cholesterol. I am trying to work hard and have not been able to lose the weight on own. I have three children, 2 of them still live at home. My daughter who is 11 is obese. I am trying to teach her to eat right and exercise. I need to do this for her. Maybe she can teach me a few things about exercising since I don't like to get out myself. I am also part oriental so I love my rice that I have to have every night. If there is anything else you like to know please send me a message.
