Well here, we go...ha! Not to good at this yet. Ummm, I joined Sparks for support and advice because I can't do it by myself! I have proven that repeatedly for years. I need to lose 50 pounds. I have type 2 diabetes and do a good job of maintaining my blood sugar with food and exercise. I am not on any medication or insulin.
I retired last year and have tried to fill my schedule by volunteering at SHC once a week, (they help the needy, feed the hungry and homeless). I'm a Master Gardener at America's #1 Rose Garden in America, officially recognized as such as "The San Jose Rose Garden". A Master Gardener helps maintain over 3500 roses in the garden by dead heading, cleaning, weeding, mass pruning once a year or any other chores that may be required to support the non profit organization. I have a veggie garden in my yard. I also take a Zumba class 2 days a week. OMG it is so much fun! I can hardly believe it! I play cards one afternoon a week, pinochle.
I'm very fortunate to live near and have access to the Senior Center. There's a great gym at the center that I have been using for 2 years. It has everything for cardio, strength training, stretching and more.
My reasons for wanting to get rid of 50 pounds: Better health Keep diabetes under control Feel better Have more energy Move easier Relieve for my joints Look better Be more confident Maybe live longer
