WELCOME TO SPARK!!! Congrats on taking the first step into changing your life to a more healthier one by joining the site. Spark is filled with amazing people that will motivate, support and encourage you on your journey. There is so much to learn and discover here, take this one day at a time.
A couple of things I would like to suggestion to make you Spark experience a great one.
1. Put together your own Spark page. This is a great way to communicate with other members and build relationships that will support and motivate you. You can do this by going to the START page and the green section has something about your Sparkpage.
2. Make goals for yourself. Each month I make a list of what I want to accomplish that month and break them down to smaller goals to work with week by week. This way the BIG picture doesn't seem so big.
3. Join Spark teams. There are tons of teams here and you will be able to find ones that fit to what you like or want in a team.
The key to success here is to be active and you've already started by joining. You will find that everyone is willing to help you out if you need it. Hi, I'm new here. I've had this account for a number of years but I never really used it. I was losing weight on my own but then Easter hit and I pigged out and I'm back up to 150 lbs. I really want to be healthy and be in my healthy weight range - which is below 140 lbs. 10 pounds doesn't seem like a lot but I really struggle to lose it.
I used to be a WW member but I found all that tracking made me batty. Instead of staying within my points range, I'd obsess about food and end up eating just for the sake of eating. I'm slightly afraid the same thing is going to happen on here but at least sparkpeople is free.
Today I tried to eat healthy - I think most of my meals were all relatively nutritious, its just my portions are too large. I also seem to have a love affair with olive oil - which seems to be a source of a lot of the fats im getting in my dressing - a little olive oil on my salad, mixed with my broccoli, to cook the chicken and carrots = a lot of oil in one day! not good. my waist line is 36" and I know to be healthy I need to be well below that. I have a family history of heart disease and I really don't want to fall victim to that. I can do better!
