Had a great day went shopping for a new hutch for the dining room but couldn't find one with the size we need....guess I'll have to go on line to find one. We also spent some time with our 2 sons, I just love spending time with our children when we can.

Hope you all are having a great Saturday!

Hi everyone, I've been pretty busy lately. Yesterday I put on a birthday party for my youngest and he turned 16. All of my children were here and had a lot of fun. We also celebrated my mom birthday. Her birthday is this Sat. and she will be 86. We all had a great time.

Wishing you a happy day!

If you don't want to give candy for the trick or treater's then you could give other things like little toys or stickers or pencils. Today I had a Halloween party for my daycare kids. They had lots of fun.

Happy Halloween everyone!

Happy Holloween everyone, this is not one of my favorite holidays but its one when I buy all of this candy for the kids, and I would eat whats left. This year I've decided to not buy any, and I feel bad that I'm not. What if some kids knock on my door, and they know that they can always count on Ms. Spencer.

Sounds like a fun time and a really great family tradition. I went to a Halloween Party with some friends and played some really funny games. My granddaughters' preschool had a parade on Friday. It was beyond cute.

Nasfkab.....sorry to hear about your son's dr. My heart goes out to him.

Today we went to my daughter's house along with my son and his wife and my 2 grand boys to carve pumpkin's. This is something we do every year and we have a lot of fun. I even made a couple of pumpkin pies and that turned out great.

Hope you all are having a great day!

I went to a Old English Tea Room for lunch after a tour on a steam railroad. Then I went on a Ghost Walk followed by dinner. Later I went to a monthly neighborhood get together where many try out new recipes, this one is always so delicious and I feel like I have to be polite and try things. This week is better with earing out I have lost 1 pound which delights me !!
Enjoy the weekend

Hi everyone and welcome Solucky to this site. So glad it's still nice enough to take a walk outside. I know it will be short lived. I will take a walk after work and hopefully it doesn't cool down to much. Still trying hard to stay on track. Maybe I'll try drinking more water too.

Have a wonderful day everyone,

Tomorrow I am going to drink water, for some reason I just don't like water, but I think it might be a good start for me. I am going to try and stay on this message board until I make some SP friends. Ive been skipping around too much looking for one I like. I too have cravings at night , so Im going to try the suggestions here. emoticon

Welcome newcomers, hoping to get to knowing you better. So how was everyone's weekend? Mine started out okay with eating healthy foods but then I totally blew it while watching a movie on Sat. night. I did get in some good exercise though on Sat. and Sun. so hopefully when I weight in tomorrow morning it won't be to bad.

Have a great day everyone,

Toni

Hi Mishmom,
You've been thru a lot so go easy on yourself. You might try different food plans. Some of us follow Eat to Live which is a lot of whole natural raw foods; others follow protion control, and most of us need to figure out whether higher protein or higher carbs is best for our calorie range.
No matter what is best for you, this is a great site for support.
Whe I first joined it took me a while to get around the whole website and learn how to manuver. Be sure to check out the great recipes, too. Just beware that not all are low cal and to look at the number of servings.
I too have over 50 lbs to lose (minimum) and am more sedentary than I'd like to be owing to knee problems. health issues, and my work schedule. But since you have the time, get yourself into a routine. Exercise and eating in moderation for the long term will bring good results.

Hi Susie,
I'm new to Sparkpeople too. Everything starts with the first step. I think that the best is to think of small goals not only on the scale. Like eating three fruits or not eating cookies (one of mine) or walking for ten minutes. Make some personal goals , then increase them or change them. It's most important to remember that you matter and you know you are strong. Look at what you have done so far this year in your life. Wishing you all positive things!

Hi Susie you can do it by taking baby steps. Break the 100 lbs into 5lb segments & make that your goal so you do not feel what a huge mountain to climb. All the best

Hi, my name is Susie and I am new to Spark People. I'm 51, a new empty nester and moved to NV at the same time, after living in MN the past 11 years. It has been a weird year for me between unemployment, re-employment out of state (for my husband), youngest going off to college, losing our home, renting something half as big as the last house, leaving friends behind, majorly downsizing and recovering from a bad car accident. Needless to say, I have been comforting myself with food and I feel physically awful. I need to make a huge shift in my life and get myself together. I feel like I'm in a position to make a new start and put some difficult things behind me. There are so many things I want to do in my life and in every case I feel like my obesity is holding me back - I don't want to be "that girl" anymore. I have 100 lbs to lose. I think I need some cheerleader friends -- and I will be happy to cheer you on too. Sorry if this is too much info for a first post -- I was hoping it was enough for someone who might see some little bit of commonality, so that we can be moral support for each other!

Good morning everyone. Welcome Lisa, hope to get to knowing you better as well.
Inkle...I also have 3 children, 2 that are married and one that is going to be 16 in about 2 weeks. I also have 3 grandkids all boys. I'm still waiting for a girl LOL.

Well, last night I did eat my fruit like I said but then I did eat just a few animal crackers, I did stay within my calories so I was pretty proud of myself. I guess I'm trying to hold myself more accountable. It's my weekends that really get me because my husband loves to go out to eat and I guess so do I because I cook during the day for my daycare kids and for the 3 of us. I do try to make good choices but I don't always stick to eating healthy foods....ugh!!! I will try really hard this weekend....wish me luck!!!

Wishing you all a happy weekend! Toni

Hi everyone,
I'm new to the message boards and looking for weight loss friends to share my journey. I have been with spark people a few years and finally have been taking it seriously. Love to hear everyone's story.

I'm trying to exercise a little everyday, even if its only for a 10 minutes a day. What is working for you... please share

I also knit and crochet when I'm sitting on the couch relaxing.

I know what you mean when you are working full time, there is not enough time for everything so the easiest thing is to let go of some of the things we do for us. I retired after working for 32 years and raising 3 children. My husband died in 1998. It is just so great to now have this time to play. I'm hoping getting more active will help me lose weight and have more energy. I wish you an evening of no cravings!!

The pattern that I have I got from my sister, she also sews bibs. I never ever bought a pattern for it and I like the one she gave me. I'm going to start sewing blankets for my grandkids soon. They like the flannel ones with silk around them. That Zumba class sounds like fun, I sure wish I had more time to get in my exercise. So busy with doing daycare yet. I always say some day i will have more time. I usually do my sewing and other crafts on weekends. Well tonight I plan on eating some fruit, I don't like to munch on veggies at night, I think maybe it just doesn't satisfy my hunger enough. Also I started eating more protein and fiber during the morning and about 3:00 in the afternoon. I read somewhere that it said to do that so your not so hungry. I just started that today, so we'll see how that goes.

Have a wonderful day! Toni

I sew and also weave. I haven't done much of any of these crafts for awhile. Now that I'm retired, I plan to get back to all these things that I love to do. Yesterday I went to the Y and took a 30 minute Gentle Yoga class and then a 45 minute Zumba Gold class which is for seniors!! First time for both and I loved them. I really liked the Zumba because I like to dance. Evening though was bad again and I think from reading your message that maybe I was hungry also.
I'd like to make bibs and also some clothes for my grands. Any pattern suggestions?

Hey I knit too. I've been making some covers for my outdoor chairs. I also love to sew. I sew all the baby bibs, blankets and other things for my daycare kids. Do any of you sew?

Last night I was sitting and watching TV and sure enough I wanted some choc. animal crackers that were calling my name. They are low calories and so I broke down and had some, but I didn't eat to many this time. I went in the the computer and made sure I tracked it. I went over by 70 calories but get this....I went on the scale this morning and I actually lost 1 pound. I think it was the walk i took last night which I walked for 45 min. I think that's why I was so hungry.

Wishing you all a great day!

I know all to much about those evening cravings. I have it so bad too. I sometimes find that when I do my posting at that time it's keeping my hands busy. Eating veggies doesn't seem to work for me because my cravings are to strong. The other thing I've tried and seems to work is eating sunflower seeds. I guess I just need to have something in my mouth.LOL

Have a great day all!
