I would love to add you as a buddy, if I determine how to do that. Someone suggested I make py page public but I'm not sure how to accomplish that as well. I went to the page but did not see anything concerning making the homepage private or not. Guess I better keave this until after work and I can devote my time and attention. I am like a kid with a new toy not wanting to put this away.

I am brand new to this site and trying to find my way around. I too am in the AARP club, quickly approaching 59 (gasp) and an emotional eater. Unfortunately this type of behavior has led my weight to climb to an all time high. I am attempting to take baby steps to make a lifestyle change. I'd like to join this group and anyone wanting to post on my page (if I can find it again emoticon please do.

I remember having the tv on alot when the kids were little so I could hear adult voices during the day. The social interaction with other adults is hard for new mothers to maintain.

Toni I have grandbabies 4 grandbabies in Indiana, three grandbabies by me and three grandbabies in Arizona.

I went for a hike yesterday we went to a fun lodge for lunch and looked around the Flaming Gorge Dam...really good day but tired and sore today :)

Starting to get tomatoes on my plants...love fresh tomatoes from the garden.

Hope to hear from you more, you can also add me as a spark friend. emoticon

Barbara....glad to hear that you are feeling good enough to use your recumbent bike....way to go!!!

Vernalgrandma....so do your Grandbabies live in the same town as you. They are so cute!!!

Oh, by the way it finally quit raining for a while so I hurried and got in a 45 min walk....felt great!

Wow, talk about being watched from above, you sure were in the right place at the right time, weren't you?

Welcome, and you're off to a good start by joining SparkPeople! And gratz for walking 1/2 mile, that's quite an accomplishment after what you've just been through.

I find logging my food a huge benefit, and I've just started exercising the past couple of days and log that too. Due to a back back, bad hips and knees, I recently got a recumbent bike and have started using that these past couple of days. My goal is to get into a routine and exercise daily. I'm starting slow because I'm so out of shape, but hope to gradually build up to 1/2 hr twice a day.

I'd be glad to add you as a friend, and would love if you would add me as well.

Keep on sparking!!!

Barbara

Hi I am totally new to all of this. My username is wierd so I will go by, "Patti" I just started my new dieting and walking today. I just had some stints put in because I had lost 98 % of the working order of my heart. I was having trouble with chest pain but treated it like bad heartburn for 2 years. Then I started having some small "attacks" where it felt like my heart was being squeezed, pain running down both arms and up under my neck and it was hard to breathe. This scared me, I went to the cardiologist office to do a stress test on a treadmill, I was not on there for more than 3 minutes when I had a full blown heart attack. The doctor pulled me off the treadmill and placed me on the gurney nearby and put nitroglycerine tablet under my tongue. I was whisked away into surgery. Now here I am, thank goodness, 5 weeks and 4 stints later, feeling good and ready to rock and roll. I am looking for some new online buddies to help me along the way and to keep me motivated. Today I walked my first 1/2 mile. I am jazzed!

How are all of you guys doing today? I sure wish it wasn't so rainy these last couple of days because I love to go for walks. Well, maybe their will be a clearing some time today, then I better get out their quick.

Hi to all, Had a very sad weekend. Was not able to post till last night. My daughter was pregnant and lost the baby on Sunday morning. She was in a lot of pain from the contractions. Just trying to get through today and thinking about my daughter.

Vernalgrandma....Don't feel down about eating what you want. I say eat what you want, but make sure you track everything. And if you want something really yummy, eat maybe just 2 bites just to feel like you're not depriving yourself, that's what I do and it works for me....hang in there!!!

Sunrise14....I would love to have you as a friend....we need all the support we can get going through this weight loss journey.

Nana419....welcome to this site, hope to hear more from you.

Hope you all have a great day,

Toni

Hi, today it's been cloudy, hope it doesn't rain again....getting to much of that lately. I was able to get in a 45 min walk this morning, I love to walk.

Vernalgrandma...mowing is great exercise, glad that your not in so much pain this week from fibro. I know when I'm in pain from fibro it's really hard to get yourself to doing anything. Also I found that when I stay away from junk food and exercise everyday I don't get any flare ups. Hope you're have a better day today.

Hey, the celery and salsa thing does sound good, I'll have to try it.

Nas....Hope your having a great day too.

I mowed the front lawn today..we have beautiful 80 degree weather right now. I got really discouraged last week because I wanted to eat junk...I found that when I'm in a fibro pain cycle that is how I self medicate. This week my pain is in control and I've found some meals I enjoy eating. If I have a meal plan I can control the munchies...I have also found if I really want something I just eat it and savor it and not eat to much...when I'm craving chips I found that celery dipped in salsa really helps. This surprised me since I'm not a big celery fan.

Hi everyone, It's a beautiful morning, lots of sunshine. Was able to get in a 45 min walk...felt great.

Vernalgrandma and Irishwoman3... I guess what I do in the evenings to avoid eating is by keeping my hands busy with things like posting or reading sp. because a lot of times that's the only time I have to get into sp. If it's nice outside, my hubby and I go for long walks. If I'm really hungry, I usually have just a small portion of something and walk away. Since I've been with sp I've learn and still learning to take control of my binging, by just walking away after eating just a few bites of something that I really want or I'll just eat something low cal.

Do you guys have any other advise, I'm up for anything else.

Have a great day,

Toni

i am the same in the evening. i am, however, an emotional eater too. i retired last year and was very depressed at first but now i am much better. but, you are right; the evenings are the worst time to eat. we need to find a way for the evenings not to be so dangerous.

Today I'm doing well. Sunday I spent prepping for a colonoscopy and yesterday I spent sleeping and recovering from the sedation. My only problem is the closer it gets to evening and the more tired I am the more I want to eat junk food...hoping this will go away after a while. The flooding is scary and so sad that people are losing their homes.

Hi everyone, after reading the posts on this site it sounds like a lot of us turned 50 this year. I almost forgot that I turn 51 on the 26 of this month, boy this year just flew by. It's been raining a lot here lately in ND just something we don't need right now specially with all of the flooding were having. So many people have had to evacuate and are now living in churches, schools, campers you name it. It's really hard to see all the homes that are being flooded.

VERNALGRANDMA....how are things going for you?

Hope you all have a great day,

Hi...I just turned half-a-century this year. I've tried different diets and even lost 30 lbs last summer by watching my carbs. The 30 lbs came off in three months and I've managed to maintain it but not lose anymore. Last month the weight started creeping back up...I really want to feel good about how I look and feel better physically. I too the quiz and it says I'm an emotional carb loving eater..:) I could really use some support...if you would be willing to be my weight loss buddy I would love it...I'm on facebook as well. Thanks in advance...I would love to provide you with support as well.
