the best advice i can give you is to set a goal beyond your easter wedding date. most people can grin and bear it through a few months of things that they don't really like at all. the problem is that once they reach that magic event, they go back to what they were doing before and the weight, generally with a few friends, comes right back. and it's going to be twice as hard to do when your new partner is more in favor of the old way than the new way.
if you have some other goal [doing a 5k or a 10k, being able to swim or lift a certain amount, being able to meet certain fitness goals] that's more of a long term health/fitness goal, that can make it easier to keep the changes instead of sliding back in to what helped put on the weight in the first place. because your goal isn't get to this one date, it's keep being able to do this activity at a certain level.
the other thing is to take a hard look at the changes you're making and think about how you'd feel continuing them until the day you die. some people would want to immediately binge on soda if they couldn't have it after day x. other people might find that they're not that fond of soda in the first place, and in fact the carbonation tends to upset their stomachs after cutting it out for a while. you have to balance the extremes with what you like. in other words, if all you want is salt and vinegar chips while you're making all of these changes, then you need to either find a way to incorporate them or find a way to tweak what it is that you love about them to make them workable within the new parameters. which might mean buying individual bags of salt and vinegar chips. it might be slicing root vegetables, soaking them in vinegar, draining and lightly coating with olive oil, baking them and adding a little sea salt. it might be having fish baked in salt with a little malt vinegar drizzle when you serve it. but if you're making changes that you're happy to keep forever, then it will be easier to keep up after the wedding. and do the same for your fiance. if his family's mac and cheese recipe calls for three sticks of butter, try making it over. that doesn't mean revamping the sauce and adding broccoli on the first try. that means cutting out half a stick of butter where the recipe calls for three or using 7/8 cup of cheese instead of the full cup. and if that sort of small change goes over after making it five to ten times, then tweak it again. again, the goal is not to do a 180 makeover, the goal is to slightly adjust the recipe to make it better. and then make it five to ten times to get used to the new mix. it's gradually making little changes that you don't even notice.

You have a good start on you weight loss journey. Just remember that it's marathon and not a sprint.....You didn't pack on the pounds in 3 minutes so it won't come off that way either. I am sure that you can do this. Keep us posted......I can always use a new sparks friend.

HI all....you all know how it is..life keeps you busy and one day you wake up and say...hey what about me??? I am over weight by 70 pounds and want to get in shape to fit a size 10/12 wedding dress. I welcome new support. I am planning a wedding on a cruise ship next Easter. emoticon
I started out by tossing out the soda, the salt, stock my cabinet with Mrs Dash seasoning, and eat a high protein diet., fresh veggies, and watch what I put in the fridge and cabinets. I have slowly got my fiance to pay attention to what he eats. But I still think he cheats when I am out of sight..LOL. emoticon I just started using the kettle ball exercise with a dvd...that really kicks up a feel of a work out. But I know that is just the beginning. I thought it was time to come hang out with others who share the same goals. Please feel free to drop me a line. I need all the support I can get..
