I do 30 minutes on the treadmill first thing every morning, which usually gets me to around 4,000 steps. Then aside from normal walking around in the day, I take a quick 10-or 15 minute walk at around 10am at work, then another 10 or 15 minute walk around 2pm, incorporating stairs as much as I can. I get off work at 4pm and have to climb 3 flights of stairs and walk a long way to the parking lot, so that adds up too. I am getting bursts of exercise at 6am, 10am, 2pm and 4pm, which I hope keeps my metabolism burning fast. I also feel great doing this.

I like to hike with my husband for my walking exercise each day emoticon but today I'm going to walk 5 miles on my treadmill (listening to music). I used to train for running races and have run up to 12 miles on my treadmill. I don't run anymore but now I'm working up to doing more on my treadmill. I really enjoy walking with my husband more than walking the treadmill, but I'm very thankful I have it for our very windy days. emoticon emoticon

emoticon Since I get up at 6 AM most days and don't go to bed until AFTER 10 or 11 PM, I started just trying to make sure that I average 100 steps an hour -- Outside of any Exercise I do Like Treadmill or Taking "Long Walks at the Park". It adds up FAST!!

Yes it really does surprise you little does a person realize how much they step during the day, i am glad i decided to get a pedometer, which is a true motivator, if i am on the low side of my goall of 10000 steps then i know its tiime to get moving, so i hit the goal....I too work in health care as a nurse. we are on our feet all day long...it will be interesting to see how much i can track as far as steps go at work.....happy stepping everyone!!

I get most of my steps at work. I am a food transporter at a hospital with eight units there and back.

emoticon I think the most I have ever gotten is the day we went on a campus tour. Didn't even realize that I was over 15k...those are the best exercise days...the ones where you don't realize you are. :-)

The other thing I would note is that the 10k steps a day figure is usually considered to count all your steps in a day, not just ones where you are actively exercising (so running out to get the mail, going upstairs to do laundry, walking to the bathroom, etc all would count too). But, you can do count your steps as you want. :-)

ok I just finished my final 10 minutes on my treadmill totalling a total of a hour and 40 minutes worked out, which is goal of 10,000 steps :o)

my pedometer states i have 10056 steps and burned
512 calories x 7 days= 3584 calories burned per week (equals one pound a week lost)

I will add 200 extra steps per week till i hit 12600 steps :o)

I just did 45 minutes on my treadmill and have stepped 4467 steps and another 5533 steps to hit my 10,000 step goal I heard it speeds metabolism which in turn speeds weight loss, doing 10,000 steps every day is supposed to equal to 3500 calories burned, which will give you a weight loss of a pound each week :o)

If I am wrong someone please correct me :o)
I also wonder if you can break this up on the treadmill? I mean walking at 45 min each time till you reach your 10,000 step goal?

I am just refueling with an apple and large glass of yummy sparkly water, let it settle a bit then back on the treadmill for another 45 minutes :o)

I will record how many steps I have totalled then stop to marinade dinner, then back on the treadmill to finish till i hit my goal of 10,000 steps

Depending on your stride length, 10000 steps is between 4 and 5 miles (steps per mile varies from around 2000 for taller people to around 2600 for shorter people). So if you're going about 4 mph, you are probably talking around an hour. 3 mph would be closer to an hour and a half.

Program how long does it take you to take 10,000 steps. I read some where that it is between 2-3 hours? I walk at a 3.0 speed for 4 minutes then back to 3.5 mph for 2 minutes then back down to 3.0 and keep going until i have completed an hour on my treadmill, how long does it take you to complete 10,000 steps?
