WELCOME TO SPARK!!! Congrats on taking the first step into changing your life to a more healthier one by joining the site. Spark is filled with amazing people that will motivate, support and encourage you on your journey. There is so much to learn and discover here, take this one day at a time.
A couple of things I would like to suggestion to make you Spark experience a great one.
1. Put together your own Spark page. This is a great way to communicate with other members and build relationships that will support and motivate you. You can do this by going to the START page and the green section has something about your Sparkpage.
2. Make goals for yourself. Each month I make a list of what I want to accomplish that month and break them down to smaller goals to work with week by week. This way the BIG picture doesn't seem so big.
3. Join Spark teams. There are tons of teams here and you will be able to find ones that fit to what you like or want in a team.
The key to success here is to be active and you've already started by joining. You will find that everyone is willing to help you out if you need it. Spark friends are here for support, motivation and encouragement. Good luck on your journey to a healthier lifestyle! Again, welcome to the SP family! *~ Paula *~

Hi! I am a newbie here as well! I just joined on Tuesday nite. Thanks to a dear adopted niece who told me about this program. I am 55 years old and have been over weight since high school.
I am a breast cancer survivor for almost 4 years now. And I still really need to lose weight to keep the cancer at bay. But most of all, I just need to be healthier so I can stop taking so many meds.
I have joined Weight Watchers thru work, and hoping this program will help me as well.

Good Luck Storm... Take it one step at a time, cutting out soda and most sugar is more important than animal products... Try and just go from "fatty" meats / etc. to "leaner" versions and that should help a lot! Hang in there!
You can't change the past so don't let it haunt you, you can change the future but first you have to want to...
Welcome and congratulations on cutting out soda! That is quite an achievement! Take things one day at a time and you'll make those other changes too. Beans and Rice offer a good protein, as does Greek yogurt (although that is an animal product). I'm not sure if you're trying to be vegetarian or vegan, but I wish you well as you explore your options. Boca burgers are pretty good in my opinion! Feel free to add me as a friend should you want some extra support. I do eat meat, but just fish and poultry. Best wishes!! Rachel

Hello Everyone. I'm Storm, and I'm a Stay-at-home Daughter looking after my Mom who has back and leg issues. I'm trying to cut soda-pop, most sugar, and animal products out of my meals. Doing pretty good on the soda-pop so far, not so great on the animal products. I can't afford Tofu or other 'replacements' or 'specialty' items so finding Recipes that's just the basics is hard for me, and it makes meal planning even harder, but I'm trying anyways! :3
