Welcome to Spark! I love the site, be sure to take advantage of the meal planner and the trackers. It's really motivating to me to track what exercise I do then look at the totals! Wow, I'm doing lots more than I thought, helps me see the big picture. I also like the meal planner, I hate cooking so we fell back on eating out a lot which led to my current weight! Now I use the planner to plan and shop and always have something healthy and low cal to serve! Good luck on your journey!!

I'm new too. Don't say you're going to try your best. Draw the line in the sand and say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. I have 65 lbs to lose. And I don't want to spend the rest of my life talking about losing weight, worrying about losing weight and what I look like, stressing because nothing fits me, worrying about being see around others because I'm so self-conscious of how bad I look. I FINALLY have got to a point where I said to myself. No more excuses. NO more. I'm done. This is not going to be an issue the rest of my life. I started this two weeks ago. I haven't even started exercising yet because I've been too busy -- I'm self employed and can't make the time. I know if I really wanted to I could, but I'm not there yet.
But what I have done is put myself on a 1,200 calorie and no more day. No matter what I'm not crossing that 1,200 calories. The calculator says if I lose 2.2 lbs a week, I can be 140 lbs by January. That's doable for me. If I look at the big picture, I give up and say that's too much to lose. But 2.2 lbs a week. If I just do that, I will make it.
It's been 2 weeks with no exercise but sticking to the right combinations of food (chicken, fruits, vegetables, etc.). I can eat whatever I want, so I'm not dieting. But I'm not going to go over 1,200 in a day. I even had chocolate cake and frosting yesterday. But that 450 calories was figured into my 1,200 calories a day. I didn't really enjoy it but I'd been super good for 2 weeks so I felt I earned it. I didn't fall off the wagon. I had one dessert. Calculated it in with my 1,200 calories and didn't gain a pound.
If i want something then I have to remove something else from my list of what I had planned for that day but stick to the 1,200 calories. Guess what. 2 weeks later. I'm 6 lbs lighter. That's more than 2.2 lbs a week. That's 3 lbs a week. Today and yesterday I only had 800-900 calories and I'm eating a lot of food. I just couldn't eat anymore. I think my stomach has shrunk. But before my scale was stuck and it either went up or stayed put, so I must be doing something right.
I keep my carbs in the low range, and my fats in the low range, my protein in the higher range and my calories under 1,200. And it's WORKING. I am so thrilled. So please don't say you'll try. Say you'll do it, like I did. We gained it a few lbs at a time. We'll lose it a few lbs at a time. And then guess what -- food, diet, weight loss, etc. won't be in our vocabulary anymore and we can move on with our wonderful active social lives. Wouldn't that be worth all the work??
If you need a cheerleader, I'd be glad to listen. I usually start off good and tinker off after a few weeks. I don't think so this time because I don't feel deprived of anything. I can have whatever I want. I've also add lot more fruit and veggies into my diet, 4-6 helpings a day and I think that helps.
Draw that line and say enough. I'm not trying. I'm done!!! Hope this helped.
Use the calorie counter and planned meals. It's such a big help knowing exactly what we're putting in our bodies. I had no idea how badly I was eating before until I saw the numbers. No wonder I got in this mess!!

I also have 100 + to still lose. You and can both this. Each day a fresh sheet to fill with positive choices. Set some short term goals. I will do ___ times a week. I will purchase only healthy items at the grocery store. I will clean out my refrig and cabinets of things that are not going to help me get where I want to be. Build in rewards (not food) .You have started a journey, not a sprint. Best of the best

Morning I just started Yesterdy and have so far to go. My problem is I start off great then lose my motivation. I have over 100lbs to lose and am going to try my best.
