WELCOME TO SPARK!!! Congrats on taking the first step into changing your life to a more healthier one by joining the site. Spark is filled with amazing people that will motivate, support and encourage you on your journey. There is so much to learn and discover here, take this one day at a time. A couple of things I would like to suggestion to make you Spark experience a great one.
1. Make goals for yourself. Each month I make a list of what I want to accomplish that month and break them down to smaller goals to work with week by week. This way the BIG picture doesn't seem so big.
2. Join Spark teams. There are tons of teams here and you will be able to find ones that fit to what you like or want in a team.
The key to success here is to be active and you've already started by joining. You will find that everyone is willing to help you out if you need it. Luci, welcome to SP.
I'm very sorry for your loss. I don't know if it would help you to know, but I work with infants and kids, so I see a lot of families. Many moms weighing in the 200s are having babies, many of them healthy. I see it every day. So you might be being a little hard on yourself. I had a miscarriage myself, and have come to accept that some little ones aren't healthy enough to survive. Please be kind to yourself.
Being on SP is a great thing to do for yourself, and there are many great people here to support you as you take off on your good-health journey!
Some things that are helpful to many new members: Get on a Spark Team or two that match your interests. You will find it easy to get acquainted with folks on Spark Teams. For instance, you can select a Team of Sparkers in your city, or Sparkers who follow a particular food plan (vegetarians, low carb, etc.), Sparkers with a particular health concern, or Sparkers who share your hobbies. Another option is to set up your Spark Page and start blogging. Some folks use the Community Journals. Post a lot on the message boards, especially if you have successes or challenges. You'll soon find that you're connecting with many nice folks here.
It sounds like you have really gotten yourself back on track.
I am so sorry for your loss. I have no idea how painful it must have been.
This is a great place to meet new people who share many of the same goals you do, and have shared many experiences such as you have.
There are thousand so spark teams (different than the spark message boards).

Hi, I just wanted to say hi and introduce myself. I am new and I am looking for some partners in crime on here, in my fight for weight loss. I am looking to loose about 110 lbs. I am currently 248, I want to be 140. I lost 50lbs about 2 years ago when my hubby was deployed by using weight watchers, (the old program that I loved) and when we moved to our first duty station, away from the support of friends and family, I gained all of it back and then some. I also had a third baby in September. I have been pretty complacent in my life since moving to Kansas, not too many friends and no real motivation, until.... I lost a baby. I got pregnant again in April thinking 4 kids would be intense right now. not too long after I started having signs of a miscarriage. Finally in May, I went to the Dr. and they told me that I lost the baby. I felt like it was my fault for losing the baby, like my weight was a factor into that, that if I hadn't have been 252 lbs then I would have been able to carry the baby. I know no Dr. would say this is true, but it is what I felt, and it got me moving. Once I felt better, I got up and started doing housework every day, stuff I hadn't done in years like clean out my microwave, and fridge, etc. stuff I claimed I was too lazy to do in the past. I turned off the TV and played with my kids, must have looked like an act of God to them. Finally, I started eating right and going to the gym, I lost 6 lbs already. Whoo hoo!! I know I did it once, what makes me think I cannot do it again! I need to think about me, I cannot do this for anyone else but myself. I am loosing weight, and that is that!!
