The food tracker is my favorite part of spark people, get to know it and know it well. Then I'd say go to the spark points page, not to get points but to learn your way around the site. It takes you everywhere, and you get the points as a bonus.

Welcome and grats to both of you newbies for getting started.
The best piece of advice I can offer is to honestly track your food and exercise every day. It only hurts you if you fudge on tracking. If you over eat, track it. If you under eat, track it. If you exercise, track it If you don't, track that too Tracking makes you more aware of what you eat and the calories you are eating. It's really easy to undercount calories and over estimate exercise but your better off doing it the other way around!

First I'd like to say ...WELCOME"! The food tracker is a big help. Take time to use it. There are features that make it easier to use like making a favorites list and a groupings list. Excellent recipes. Joining "teams" that focus on various subject matter, depending on your interests. Spark people radio is good to listen to while you are using the site. The hosts give a lot of good, basic advice. There are health-related articles to read, also. No big hurry. Take your time and learn the site. It is best to commit to be here for the long haul which will help you live a healthier lifestyle. Oh, and there is a place to keep record of your physical activity.
