I started Sparking in June of 2007. By using Spark and some self discovery along the way, I'm down 50 pounds, and am holding steady at a healthy weight. I am 59 years old and I have put on 90 pounds in the past 10 years. I lost my job of 30 years, my Mom and my beloved pet within a year so I had to deal with all that loss at once, and I also have gone through Menopause so my hormones are totally different. I have sleep apnea and Hypothyroidism. Treating these ailments has not lead to any weight loss as I was hoping.
Now I have a job where I sometimes work 16 hour days and I sit for most of that time mindlessly snacking. The long hours are only seasonal, thank goodness.
But I kept having to buy larger clothes and I'm sad I can't fit into any of my old clothes. I gave my 8s and 10s away, but I'm still hoping to get back into 12s.
Anyway, I decided last week that I had to change my attitude about food. It's not a reward. I felt like I was overwhelming my liver with all the junk. My knees and my left ankle always hurt. Along with eating better, I decided to join Sparkpeople to get tips and encouragement.
