We are really very limited (in selection of products let alone affordable) where I'm from unless one wants to drive a million miles. Its so frustrating! Ive noticed some places getting a bit better with their selections especially with gluten free products, but there is a lot of room for improvement. What is here is pretty expensive though.
I have seen many people say here that healthy foods cost more. I am happy to say that the discount stores are really starting to carry more healthy foods. There were many great deals this week. I found packages of tomato and herb tofu noodles, the noodles with only 20 cals. per serving for 99 cents at Grocery Outlet. Grocery Outlet has come a long way now you can find many things such as almond milk, rice milk, gluten free stuff, etc. If you have never tried a Grocery Outlet or it's has been a while you might want to try it again. Always remember to check dates, but we all should get used to doing that at every store anyhow. I found many things at the 99 cent store this week as well like the Quaker rice cakes the large bag of sea salt and cracked black pepper and omgoodness they are the best it taste like I am cheating when I am behaving. 16 rice cakes is one serving at 130 calories, they are great with hummus as well or alone. I found lentil chips in sour cream and dill flavor they are also quite tasty. I just mentioned a few things but I bought many things lately that are a healthy alternative. If organic fruits and veggies make you happy you can even find some of those at grocery Outlet. This post was to inform that it is getting easier to afford healthier foods now that they are coming through the discount stores. Only down fall is at discount stores things come and go so you need to buy more then one when you see something you love as it may not be there next time you visit the store. You can take things back for refund though so when in doubt buy many of something that really interest you rather you tried it or not because if you do not like you can return them. Happy, healthy shopping to you. :)
