experiment with spices. and make your own chips. any root veggies can be sliced thinly, lightly tossed in olive oil, seasoned, and baked, turning once to become a chip. it will take some time to figure out what works for you [rosemary and garlic, cayenne, sage and thyme, pepper, one of those salt free seasoning blends] but you should be able to hit on something that works for you.

Salt boosts the production of insulin...which then makes a persons body store fat. Therefore more insulin....more fat is stored and therefore the more weight you gain.
There is a lot of salt in bread and cheese and breakfast cereals...Some Canned veggies, canned soups, spaghetti sauce, potato chips, cheese puffs, pretzels, ketchup, relish, anchovies, capers also French Fries and fast foods are high in sodium, fat, and calories.
Pop your own air popped popcorn...air popper at WALMART $19.99 and sprinkle some Parm or Romano cheese ontop....both cheeses have salt in them...and a little goes a long way.

Just an idea, but this is what I do when I need something salty: I pop popcorn (plain! plain popcorn is actually amazingly good for you). Then, I spray on a little bit of I Can't Believe It's Not Butter (usually, 25 sprays works for a whole bag of Orville Redenbacher's Smart Pop), but keep in mind that each spray DOES have calories- about one calorie per spray (25 sprays = 20 calories). Then, I put some salt on top of it, or seasoning, and add in some basil or other dried herbs. It hits the spot for me. A tip though: when adding the seasoning/salt/herbs/whatever, do it to a small bowl. Get out a couple cups, then spray on some butter, toss in the herbs, and then toss! Or, put in a small amount of popcorn, add a few sprays, toss in some seasoning, shake, and repeat, "layering" the popcorn.
sometimes, I will use spray water instead of spray butter, too, but you have to be careful to only get it partially wet.
OH AND ALSO- pretzels. Hard pretzel sticks or small twists are amazing, and you can make your own whole-grain version.
im the same way, i always crave salty snacks. special K cracker chips are good and come in a bunch of flavors. only about 110 calories in 20 something of them. special K popcorn chips are good too! those have 120 calories for almost the same size serving.

I'm finding my cravings harder to indulge in, within reason, or to find lighter options for than a few of my friends that are working towards healthy lifestyles with me. They crave sweets, and can easily find light sweet flavored puddings or even yogurts that suffice for them. I don't crave sweets, I don't even generally enjoy eating them. I crave salty snacks...like very salty snacks. I've tried to find some baked chip brands that I would like (baked lays do not work), but so far that hasn't worked. Does anyone have some suggestions?
Over the past few months I've reduced the overall sodium in my diet, but the craving for salty snacks are the hardest cravings for me to ignore. I'd really like to know if anyone has some suggestions for, baked chips that are tasty, healthier crackers that don't just have the crunch but have the salty factor within reason, or anything else.
