I do Body Combat (a form of Cardio Kickboxing) once a week and I love it! Try it out, see what you think. Then, try it with a different instructor, if possible. there are many different types of kickboxing (some more cardio based, some more combat-based) and everyone teaches it a bit differently.
I've done the RealFitTV videos, Turbo Jam and Turbo Fire.... LOVE THEM ALL! Oddly enough i found this thread while searching thru the message boards on things people do to deal with anxiety. HA!
Turbo Fire will WEAR YOUR A$$ OUT.... it's an insane workout....great kickboxing... and a complete sweat fest. Turbo Jam is a little less intense than Turbo Fire....both are great workouts. RealFitTV - Dana will kick your butt too. Great workouts there too!

I love kickboxing especially with heavy bags or ground pads that you punch. It is a great way off getting frustration out At the end of class I am tired but feel like I have worked through a lot of stuff. My gym plays music fairly loudly so you can grunt or even scream a little if you want to.
I did a long time ago. I loved it so much that it inspired me to train for MMA long before anyone knew what it was (late 1990s while I was in High school). I had anger issues as well and for me I found it made them worse. I had an outlet granted, however they made me more aggressive. But then again I had other reasons for that too. I loved the classes though. the cardio-kickboxing classes that you would try are fun and will kick your boo-tay! When I first started them I lost almost 3 jean sizes (only 5 lbs so it was a muscle enhancer) in a matter of 2 months only taking a 60 minute class twice per week. No other exercise and I didn't watch what I ate. I was also in high school so my metabolism was MUCH higher.
Long and short: Yes and it's fun. It's a great outlet. However buyer beware as it can help to bolster some of that aggression.

i love kickboxing! i struggle with anxiety, too. it's a great form of release to do an intense kickboxing workout and really boosts my endorphins and overall mood. i definitely recommend it as a healthy way of dealing with intense emotions (talk therapy has also helped me a lot with my anxiety).

I take kickboxing through my gym once a month. Unfortunately, mine only offers once a month right now. I love it! I have some anger issues, and have found kickboxing does ground me a little bit. Check out though to see if its just cardio or with bags. There is a huge difference. It's better with bags, if they are not using bags, it may not be for you. I know when we don't use bags, my anger hasn't been satisfied. I usually go home and go at my bag for about 20 minutes to compensate. It's always worth a shot to try it, if you don't like it, you don't have to continue.
I have never taken a kickboxing class at a gym, but I am starting my 6th week of Turbo Jam tomorrow. I love it! I think all of the kicking and punching really does help with frustration, and I feel great after my workouts. It also burns a ton of calories and has really been toning my core. Give the kickboxing class a try- you may really like it!

I struggle with anxiety too. This will help!! It felt great to kick and punch and burn off my frustrations in a positive way.
Go for it! It will do wonders.
Go and just watch a class first if you want, but I think you'll like it.

So I have recently gone through some tough changes in my life. I've been struggling with anxiety for the past year or so and anger issues pretty much my whole life also my bf just ended our committed serious relationship that I thought was going so well.
Anyways my local Gym offers different classes and one of them is a Kickboxing class. I thought this would be a really good way to work through the things I have been dealing with and the recent break up. I have a lot of built up anger and feel like this could help control that. I've never done kickboxing and usually my cardio consists of walking, or biking and my strength training comes from Pilates. I don't lift weights or run (idk why but I feel like this would put me at an advantage for a kickboxing class). Has anyone ever taken a Kickboxing class and did you enjoy it? I would love to hear anyone's experience with this! Thanks everyone :)
