TDEMAIO2,

I'm 48 and like you, spent many years yo yo dieting. I've kept the weight off for several years now. I strength train regularly. The skin on my arms did pop back. the skin on my stomach didn't. That's just the way the genetic ball bounced. As we age, our skin looses its elasticity. So, the younger a person is when they lose weight, the better the chances are that the skin pops back.

Not to be nosy, do you smoke ? Smoking reeks havoc with our skin. It ages it beyond belief. If you don't smoke, that's going to help. Do you use sunscreen or wear a hat ? Staying out of the sun also helps keep our skin young. little things do add up.

the fact of the matter is, when a woman reaches a certain age, things do start going south of the border.

Strength training can help. How ? When you have strong biceps, no one will care if you have a little sagging skin or not. They'll just be in awe of your amazing guns !!

Hi TDEMAIO2 -

Been done with the special time for about 6 years now...Naturally and not medically induced. I was just done very early and I consider myself very lucky. I too did it with no hormone replacement therapy either. I did well with it except for the osteopina soon to be osteoporosis.
( CALCIUM AND STRENGTH TRAINING!!! I can't stress that enough and so import to prevent osteoporosis) Your skin is going to change from that alone never mind just the weight loss. But it still will get better! hydration not only from water and foods but also from a good moisturizing cream (stay away from creams that have high mineral oils and alcohol in it, they actually dry out your skin more) It won't be an immediate fix all but it does help . I am a big huge fan of coco butter and aloe based creams. Lets face it they just feel good on your skin no matter what. They will greatly improve the texture of your skin which will result in better looking flabby skin LOLOL! All kidding aside your skin will bounce back...you won't look 22 though but you see a big improvement in time. Just keeping eating healthy! Eating healthy results in healthy looking skin!

HI Maggie : ) yea I wave with my hands and my arms :O I live in AZ so we are dry and HOT and I have water with my at all times at least 2 liters a day. I am going thru that special time in a woman life (who the hell said it was special?) I am trying to go thur it natural with no drugs. Excercise does help!!! I just started ST about 5 weeks ago and it different for the old cardio I grew up with. I will keep you posted on how it goes : )

I am 47 and I had the same problem...I can tell you the skin on my face, neck and legs bounced back after a about 3 months. My boobs and my belly (a big fat NO) well at least not yet. ST helped a lot, but also keeping hydrated is a big part of it. The more weight you have to loose and how quickly you lose it is also another factor.. But according to your ticker you have about 30 to loose. So I would say it will bounce back esp with adding ST.

Don't worry about bulking... you're not going to bulk up (especially at your age!) unless you train like a bodybuilder, which I doubt you have the interest or time for.

Here's a great article to start off!

Yes, and no.

You can do strength training that may help, but the older we get, the less likely it is that skin will snap back. If you aren't strength training, you should start (it helps to preserve the muscle that you will naturally lose as you age, as well) and that may help, but realistically, it also may not, and your only option may be surgery.

I know people who use the IT Works Body Wraps. They swear by them. Just do a quick google search. Good Luck!
