I had my gallbladder removed this past December. According to the instructions given to me by my surgeon upon leaving the hospital, the low-fat diet is only necessary for the first couple of weeks or so, probably to let your body adjust. Then you can return to a normal diet. I will say, though, that if I eat too much fat, especially greasy foods like burgers, etc., that it severely affects me in a very unpleasant way when it comes to using the bathroom...I'm trying to be delicate but I'll just say that it can cause cramping and diarrhea, and a lot of gas as well. Everyone's body reacts differently to having their gallbladder removed, but this has been my experience and also the experience of my husband who had his removed several years ago. Just experiment and see what works for you!
Call your doctor and find out how many grams of fat should be your daily maximum intake. Then divide this amount into meals and snacks. When you track your food intake, you will be able to tell if the food fits the plan. You will probably see that you need to limit: fatty and fried meats, gravy, cream sauces, high fat cheese, biscuits, pastries, etc.
Also check with your doctor how long to follow the lower fat diet and when you can transition back.

I just got my gallbladder removed a week ago, and now I have to change my diet to a low-fat diet. I have no idea where to start, what to eat, I've been trying to do research but they all contradict themselves. Can someone please help me, I'm lost and hungry.
