Hi Avery, and welcome. So glad you are here to make a change! First even eating healthy foods if your eating to many you can still gain weight it's the whole you can't eat to much of a good thing or it becomes bad. Next you must exercise or you will see no change. I don't know how many meals you are eating but you should be eating about 5 times a day (diabetics eat 6), smaller portions of course but eating your 3 basic meals and 2 snacks keep you from over eating at meal times. Get familiar with everything. Join some teams. Teams are great for motivation, support and accountability.

Hello everyone!

My name is Avery, and I'm kind of nervous about joining this site but I hope it will get me more motivated into losing weight!
I'm 18 and I weight near 200 pounds, and obviously this is terrible because with my height I should be weighting near 140. So I need to lose 60 pounds!? Ugh, that just makes me more stressed, ahaha.

The thing is, now-a-days I don't eat bad at all. Maybe once a month I go out and eat fast food, but I never drink soda or coffee nor do I pig out on lots of sweets or fatty foods. So that's what get's me extremely frustrated. I eat lots of veggies every day and have healthy meals, but my body just doesn't want to help me out, ahaha!
Though saying that, I'll also say that I never workout. I get out of school at noon, but then I just come home and get on the internet. Although I do have a couple blogging/article writing jobs where I have to write a few blogs everyday, that only takes a couple hours more out of my day. So I definitely have time to take a walk or do some workout videos, but I just don't have the motivation to do it.

Anyways with that out of the way, I was hoping maybe this site and the community can help me get more motivated! So I'm pretty excited to see how well this will help me, but I have a tendency of rushing into things and burning myself out in the first week. So we'll see.

Also, if anyone can explain to me why I only maintain my weight even with eating healthy, that'd be nice. I know I have little to no metabolism, but I still don't really understand it. I'm not a health nut, but I'm pretty close, and I don't eat throughout the day. I just think since I'm this weight, that I should at least see some difference within weeks or months.... but I've been eating healthy for around 2 years. Blah
