May 24 - I have found my greatest motivation yet for exercising. I was doing one of Coach Nicole's videos from my start page, requiring a chair, so set it in front of my floor length mirror. Oh my. What a disgusting reflection I saw of myself. It certainly stripped away all pretenses that I sometimes delude myself with, showed me just how absolutely disgusting those rolls of flab look. (layered clothing, etc. hides a lot!) One part of me just wanted to say, Oh forget this, I can never make a see-able change. but through some honest self-talk, I was able to say, No, use this as a motivation. Remember always what I look like today (disgusting) and determine to change it! I've been telling myself that I really don't eat that much - true, except for the afternoon meltdown each day where I stuff myself with chips, or ice cream, but who knows but me, right? Who am I kidding?? Myself??? Time to add some serious calorie counting to the exercise. I guess this might be a positive note thrown in today: I am life active, I can only imagine what I would look like if I sat around watching TV all day. I'm feeling a little sick about myself at the moment, but I am going to use it for my good!!! That's a promise to myself!

Apr. 24, 2013 - It's a great day to be alive! I got my FitBit earlier in the week, used it yesterday, and just love that it keep tracks of all activity throughout the whole day without me having to remember to push a button everytime I go to move! I achieved and beyond all the daily goals except for one. Just a great little gadget that is fast becoming my best friend! I think this is really going to hlep hold me accountable, and motivate me to do better!! three cheers for FitBit!!

I'm feeling so much better today, although got off to a slow start. There is a beautiful foot of snow outside and still coming down, so part of my exercise plan for today is to shovel snow for an hour. But more is on my list: also a Coach Nicole strength video, Plus maybe even another "foot-stomping" cardio tape in the afternoon. Add an hour of using the vacuum cleaner, and I'm going to feel good about myself til this day is over! // So far for the day, I'm doing good with eating, had my usual breakfast of tea and toast, and my "snacks" have been two oranges. I'm not going to brag yet though, as it is the afternoon where I usually have my lapses. But I am trying to be much more diligent about what I am putting into my mouth. I haven't tracked my weight for a very long time, but am using other reliable tests ( how clothes are fitting, how my knees feel, my stamina, etc. Can't say that I'm doing fantastically, but maybe just a tad better. Baby steps - and spring is coming! Those two horrid months of January and February are history, and spring burst upon the scene this month! Then it's so much easier for me to get outside - I want to then, not having to force myself like now. (Except for day's like this, I actually like shoveling snow - I can see instant accomplishment, which is awfully nice occasionally.)

I woke up today with a sinus headache this morning, still not feeling great with that, but have plans on heading outside and doing some pre-spring yard work. There is soooo much that needs done out there. May not help the sinuses much, but think the vitamin d- laden sunshine will do wonders for me! I ve just been in a mood slump for the past little while, and getting outside always provides me with "me and God" time. Add some exercise into the mix, and I'm going to turn this day around and make it a good day.

Something else I want to write down.... As I first started here on SP this morning, I was cutting on myself for sitting at a computer talking about it, instead of doing it. But then when I added a one-word answer to a Message post that had asked, "Positive or negative today?", it really helped me to get my mind focused on what I needed to do to get out of my slump. So again, Thanks to SP, even for the seemingly trivial and insignificant aspects of the program.

You're doing great! Journalling is a great reminder each morning about what you want to accomplish.

Have a Great Week!

I am happy to report - to myself! - that I am doing better. Tracking is starting to play a readl role in my accountibility as well as this journal. I tried out my new (freebie) Cardio Blast DVD, and did two of the segments of it and it felt good. Challenging but good. I'm not sure my kneews could handle the hopping section, but I previewed the other section and will try to use them as a progress monitor. Know it will be a while til I can do them all, but they look like fun. I did notice that even C. Nicole was sweating pretty good til the end of some of them!

It's nice to see others glancing at my journal and giving words of encouragement. And don't we all need encouragement sometimes?! I am realizing today that what I get out of a day is based upon what I put into a day. I have taken walk three days this week - and I am so glad to be able to report that! I've been down on myself for allowing pounds to come back on and settle in the most unsightly way on this middle-aged body, But really wasn't doing anything about it. Though not feeling real inspired to do it, I took a walk the other day, and the extended time in the outdoors felt so good that I did it the next day, and the next day too, and am planning on it for today as well. Feeling so good about that, I decided to watch a little closer what I am putting into my mouth, and once started with that find that those fruits taste really good! And another lesson that I am learning is that this is a spiritual battle - if Satan can discourage me about my own body and self-image, then it is so much easier for him to make gains into other areas of my life as well. Lord, just please let me keep my focus on You, even in the midst of my diet/exercise battle. I think that is my real solution! To honor Him!!

Looks like you are doing pretty good with journaling. I am not good at journaling. But, maybe I should try it.

Okay, I started the day out tired - fighting with my husband's covers all night long - but after taking a gradual start I'm ready to go with this day! No excuses today. Haven't indulged in any of the no-no foods, just finished a light no-fat yogurt for my first snack. Laundry is in, house is empty, what a great time to exercise. So I'm' going to shut down the computer and go do!! (After I spin the bonus wheel that is!!)

Isn't it nice to have a place to put your thoughts - good and bad. Hope this is a great day for you.

OH DEAR, Not such a good day. I've gotten too many new toys this week that I've been playing with (mainly a music keyboard and a new (used) laptop). Add onto that Sunday School lesson prep work and preparations for doing two audits next week, well, I've done a lot of sitting today. Plus J. being in and out all day long. All I did in the way of formal exercise was a SP Pilates video. But a simple as this sounds, I have noticed that I am able to do deeper breathing which is a very good thing for choir practice. And though the scale hasn't moved much - and I'm not as obsessed with weighing myself - my clothes are fitting better. Today I have felt very energized, and even more mentally alert. All very good things, not all are track-able, but I can tell the difference. I love Spark People and even when I haven't done what I need to be doing - shame on me and me alone - SP helps to keep me motivated and accountable!

Decided since I come to the message boards everyday anyway (mostly to rack up a few easy points, pathetic, huh?) I would use this to hold myself accountable. Since I do this primarily in the mornings, I will write a little of my previous days successes and setbacks, and the times of just downright blowing it. I'm hoping that the thought that others may glance at this will be a motivation to me to keep things positive, and with that that things will be more positive.

Yesterday I did fairly well with my eating, and felt better because of it. I didn't get the exercise in that I had intended (famous last words, sadly), but will strive to get at least a walk in today. The sun is shining , that hleps soooo much!! I do console myself that even on my "bad" days, I do get outside everyday (thankful for animals that need fed).

Okay enough for now, will be back tomorrow!
