I was. I had five of them living with me. Four of them went back to their dad. I hope he does better this time. They lived with me for a year. I have adopted one of them (not the dads child). I have had him since birth and he is going on 4! He is a blessing. He gives me a reason to wake up each and every day, He also is what motivates me to get healthy. I wonder all the time what will happen to him if something were to happen to my husband and I. We are 50 so we are not young chicks anymore. he does though make us younger because we have to challenge ourselves to keep up with him. He is a whirlwind. I absolutely love him to pieces!

Hi there!
I was raised by my grandparents even though my mom and dad were around. They divorced when I was 9 and my mom raised my two younger sisters and younger brother.
I believe and thru my experience being raised by grandparents give you a different perspective on life. Granted I did probably get away with more than I should have but in the end I was a more well-rounded and respectful child. When I was 14 I moved to live with my Aunt and Uncle after my grandparents aged and became ill. My mom and dad didn't want me to love but in the end I made the choice and it was wonderful.
I do have some "issues" with my Mom because she's wasn't really capable to raise us. She had always treated me different but she also suffered from sever depression our entire childhood. So, I can say that I have experienced the other side of the token being the child raised by grandparents. What ever the reasoning is I commend you. It's not always easy but in the end the children will look back and be so thankful for you.

We aren't, but for those that do, my hats off to them.

Are there any Grandparents out there who are helping to raise their Grandchildren?
