I too am pre-diabetes. My nutritionist taught me how to use the 3 meals and 2 snacks a day(sometimes it is hard) to keep my BG level during the day. One tip that I learned was to limit the number of fruits you eat at a meal to 1. Google for the diabetes eating plans which will help you limit the number of foods you eat at a meal that will elevate your BG.
Carbohydrate foods raise blood sugar levels. That includes all fruits, starchy vegetables, grains, beans, legumes, lentils, milk, yogurt, chips, etc. Carbs should not be avoided, but you need to know "how" to include them in your diet.
Please ask your doctor for a referral to see a Registered Dietitian or Certified Diabetes Educator. This person will be able to set you up with a plan for weight loss that includes the correct amount of carbohydrates, the correct type and the correct distribution throughout the day with meals and snacks. Addressing this issue now, is key!

Fruit, especially juices and dried, are definitely capable of raising a person's BG. This varies person-to-person and is often largely dependent on their current physical state and activity level.

My sugar level is slightly above the normal level. My doctor asked me to monitor my diet. I eat a lot of vegetables and fruits (banana, oranges, grapes, blue/blackberries, mango, pineapple). I don't know whether the sugar in the fruits elevate my sugar blood level or not?
